Greece In The Eurovision Song Contest 2003
Greece competed in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003, held on 24 May 2003 at the Skonto Hall in Riga, Latvia. The Greek broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) organised a public selection process entitled Ena tragoudi gia tin Evropi (; "A song for Europe") to determine its entry for the contest. Held on 26 February 2003 in Athens, the event saw 10 songs compete to be the Greek entry; the results were determined by a combination of jury, SMS and televoting. Singer Mando with the song " Never Let You Go" received the most votes and was selected to represent the nation. The song was written by Mando and Terry Siganos. To promote the entry, a music video and five track CD single for the song were released and Mando made appearances at events in Cyprus, Croatia and Malta, as well as at Mediterranean party in Riga in the lead up to the contest. Adamantia Stamatopoulou ( el, Αδαμαντία Σταματοπούλου; born 13 April 1966), known as Mando ( el, links=no, Μαντώ), is a Greek singer. Dafni Bokota ( el, Δάφνη Μπόκοτα; born 1960) is a Greek singer, presenter and former spokesperson for the Greek national broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT). Biography Dafni Bokota was born in Koukaki, Athens, Greece in 1960. She studied English and French literature and while working in ERT and released an LP with her own compositions. The title of the record was ''Dafni Bokota kai Saboter'' and the singles "Diva" and "Viper Nora" were hits. She had tried to represent Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1983 with her song "Juliet". Bokota is best known for presenting for ERT the Jeux Sans Frontières and the Eurovision Song Contest, the latter for eighteen years from 1987 until 2004. The Eurovision Song Contest 2002 was the 47th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Tallinn, Estonia, following the country's victory at the with the song "Everybody" by Tanel Padar, Dave Benton and 2XL. Kosmos 93 (russian: Космос 93 meaning ''Cosmos 93''), also known as DS-U2-V No.1, was a Soviet satellite which was launched in 1965 as part of the Dnepropetrovsk Sputnik programme.
