Grecia (toucan)
Grecia (hatched ) is a chestnut-mandibled toucan known as the first toucan to receive a prosthetic 3D-printed beak. Early life and injuries Grecia was born in the wild in or around Grecia, one of the cantons of Costa Rica, in approximately March 2014. The toucan was beaten by youths, and its top beak broke off. Government officials transported the bird to the animal rescue center Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center (formerly Rescate Animal Zoo Ave), west of the city of Alajuela. A few 3D printing companies joined efforts to create a prosthetic beak which was successfully attached to Grecia. The bird received its name from the town of Grecia where it was picked up by city officials. Grecia passed away in January 2022, per Zoo Ave employees. Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center
Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center, formerly Rescate Animal Zoo Ave, is an urban park of approximately , located in La Garita, in the canton of Alajuela, Costa Rica. It has an average altitude of 814 meters and is bounded to the north by the bed of the river Rio Poas. The site includes the largest collection of bird species in Latin America. It is administered by a conservation nonprofit foundation called Fundación Restauración de la Naturaleza, which also is responsible for the country's largest rehabilitation center in the Rescate Wildlife campus. Victoria (goose)
Victoria is the first goose to receive a prosthetic 3D printed beak. Victoria was found on the São Paulo coast in late 2015, without most of her beak. She was transferred to the care of the Friend of the Sea in collaboration with Animal Avengers, when Cícero Moraes was still part of the team. It is not clear how Victoria lost her beak. A 3D printed prosthetic beak was attached by veterinarians of the University of São Paulo. The chestnut-mandibled toucan or Swainson's toucan (''Ramphastos ambiguus swainsonii'') is a subspecies of the yellow-throated toucan which breeds from eastern Honduras to northern Colombia to western Ecuador.
