''Greatest Hits 1970–1978'' is a compilation album from Black Sabbath, released in 2006. This album features only the original line-up of Black Sabbath with all the albums Ozzy Osbourne worked on presented from 1970's self-titled debut album to 1978's ''Never Say Die!''. The album debuted on the ''Billboard'' 200 album chart on 1 April 2006 at number 96. It spent 10 weeks on the chart. It was released to coincide with the band's induction into the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath were an English rock music, rock band formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward (musician), Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne. They are often cited as pioneers of heavy metal music. Tony Iommi
Anthony Frank Iommi () (born 19 February 1948) is a British musician. He co-founded the pioneering heavy metal band Black Sabbath, and was the band's guitarist, leader and primary composer and sole continuous member for nearly five decades. Iommi was ranked number 25 in ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". On his last day of work in a sheet metal factory, as a teenager, Iommi lost the tips of the middle and ring fingers of his right hand in an accident, an event which crucially impacted his playing style. He briefly left Black Sabbath (then known as Earth) in 1968 to join Jethro Tull, but did not record any material with the band, and subsequently returned to Black Sabbath in 1969. ''Master of Reality'' is the third studio album by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released on 21 July 1971 by Vertigo Records. It is regarded by some critics as the foundation of doom metal, stoner rock, and sludge metal. Taylor 2006, pg. 199, "Some say that ''Master of Reality'' was the first stoner metal album. "Sweet Leaf" is a song by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath from their third studio album ''Master of Reality'' (1971), released on July 21, 1971. It is considered one of the band's signature songs and was included on their 1976 greatest hits compilation '' We Sold Our Soul for Rock 'n' Roll''. Overview The song begins with a tape loop of guitarist Tony Iommi coughing from a joint he was smoking with bandmate Ozzy Osbourne.
