''Greatest Hits'' is the first compilation album by American country music artist Mark Chesnutt. It features ten hits from his first four studio albums: 1990's ''Too Cold at Home'', 1992's '' Longnecks & Short Stories'', 1993's '' Almost Goodbye'', and 1994's '' What a Way to Live'', as well as the newly recorded tracks "It's a Little Too Late" and "Let It Rain". Both of these tracks were released as singles in 1996, peaking at #1 and #8, respectively, on the Hot Country Songs charts. The album itself earned RIAA platinum certification. Mark Nelson Chesnutt (born September 6, 1963) is an American country music singer and songwriter. Between 1990 and 1999, he had his greatest chart success recording for Universal Music Group Nashville's MCA and Decca branches, with a total of eight albums between those two labels. During this timespan, Chesnutt also charted twenty top-ten hits on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Songs charts, of which eight reached number one: "Brother Jukebox", " I'll Think of Something", " It Sure Is Monday", " Almost Goodbye", " I Just Wanted You to Know", "Gonna Get a Life", " It's a Little Too Late", and a cover of Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing". It begins with Chesnutt driving up to a bar and going in, with the radio blasting how hot it is outside. Paul Charles Craft (August 12, 1938 – October 18, 2014) was an American country singer-songwriter. The Memphis-born Craft was known as the songwriter for Mark Chesnutt's single "Brother Jukebox", and the novelty song "It's Me Again, Margaret", recorded by Ray Stevens, and Craft himself. Between 1977 and 1978, Craft charted three singles on RCA Nashville. His song "Keep Me From Blowing Away" was originally recorded by The Seldom Scene on their 1973 album ''Act II'' and was then recorded by Linda Ronstadt on her 1974 album ''Heart Like a Wheel'', and has since been recorded by Moe Bandy, T. Don Schlitz
Donald Alan Schlitz Jr. (born August 29, 1952) is an American country music songwriter. For his songwriting efforts, Schlitz has earned two Grammy Awards, as well as four ASCAP Country Songwriter of the Year awards. In 1993, he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Later in 2012, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Furthermore, in 2017, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Billy Livsey is an American songwriter, keyboardist, and producer originally from St. Louis, Missouri and now resides in Nashville, Tennessee. He has worked with many musicians including Tina Turner, Kevin Ayers, Phil Manzanera, 801, Gerry Rafferty, Five Star, Gallagher and Lyle, Ronnie Lane, Kenny Rogers, and Rodney Crowell.
