Greatest Hits (Creed Album)
''Greatest Hits'' is a compilation album by American rock band Creed. It was released on November 22, 2004, soon after the announcement that the band had broken up in June, and that lead singer Scott Stapp and the other members of the band would go their separate ways (although the band would later reunite in 2009). It consists of every one of Creed's U.S. singles from their first three albums: ''My Own Prison'' (1997), ''Human Clay'' (1999), and ''Weathered'' (2001), only leaving out their international single, " Hide"; the song "What's This Life For" has censored lyrics in this release, and is cut down to 3 minutes and 32 seconds in length. The album also includes a DVD that contains all of the band's music videos and several live performances. Creed (band)
Creed was an American rock band from Tallahassee, Florida, formed in 1994. For most of its existence, the band consisted of lead vocalist Scott Stapp, guitarist and vocalist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips. Creed released two studio albums, ''My Own Prison'' in 1997 and ''Human Clay'' in 1999, before Marshall left the band in 2000. The band's third album, ''Weathered'', was released in 2001, with Tremonti on bass guitar. Creed disbanded in 2004; Stapp pursued a solo career while Tremonti, Marshall, and Phillips founded the band Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy. In 2009, Creed reunited for a fourth album, '' Full Circle'', then toured until 2012. Since then, Creed has been on hiatus while the instrumental members have remained active with Alter Bridge; Stapp has continued his solo career and joined the band Art of Anarchy in 2016. "Hide" is a song by American Rock music, rock band Creed (band), Creed, released in 2002 as an International single from the band's third album, ''Weathered''. It was imported as an extended play with two other songs: "Bullets (Creed song), Bullets" and "Unforgiven" (all album versions) along with the CGI-made video for "Bullets." The band had released EPs and imports throughout the Eastern hemisphere. There was also a Spanish import with a gray background and their logo with the song name as cover art. The real EP artwork is of the Creed bandmates staring into the sun, with Stapp covering his face to see through the light. A creed, also known as a confession of faith, a symbol, or a statement of faith, is a statement of the shared beliefs of a community (often a religious community) in a form which is structured by subjects which summarize its core tenets. Thomas Scott "Flip" Phillips (born February 22, 1973) is an American musician, songwriter and record producer. He is the drummer, percussionist, keyboardist and co-founder of the bands Creed (band), Creed, Alter Bridge, and Projected. Life and career Phillips grew up in Madison, Florida, Madison, Florida. He started out playing in a band called Crosscut at 18. He was a founding member of the band Creed (band), Creed. After Creed dissolved, he joined Alter Bridge in 2004 with fellow then-former Creed members bassist Brian Marshall and lead guitarist Mark Tremonti. He is a self-taught drummer, starting at age 18, and has also played piano and saxophone. Brian Aubrey Marshall (born April 24, 1973) is an American musician and songwriter best known as the bassist and co-founder of the rock bands Creed and Alter Bridge. Early life Brian Aubrey Marshall was born April 24, 1973, in Jackson, Mississippi but has lived in Florida since 1979. He started out his music career by playing his father's drums. He states that after scratching his father's drum set a few times, his father decided it was time to buy him a bass guitar. He cites Steve Harris, John Entwistle, Geddy Lee, John Paul Jones and Doug Pinnick as major influences. My Own Prison (song)
"My Own Prison" is a song by Creed and the titular lead single from their 1997 debut album of the same name. It first appeared on the WXSR-FM compilation album ''Locals Only'' and would prove to be the band's breakout hit. The single peaked at number two on the ''Billboard'' Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and number seven on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. Writing and recording "My Own Prison" is one of Creed's earliest written songs. Prior to writing the song, the band had written about half a dozen other songs as they were in the process of trying to find their identity. The band wrote a song called "Grip My Soul", which was never recorded or released, but after a rehearsal vocalist Scott Stapp recalls that he and the band felt that they had finally found their musical style.
