Ronnie Lee Milsap (born Ronald Lee Millsaps; January 16, 1943) is an American country music singer and pianist. He was one of country music's most popular and influential performers of the 1970s and 1980s. Nearly completely blind from birth, he became one of the most successful and versatile country "crossover" singers of his time, appealing to both country and pop music markets with hit songs that incorporated pop, R&B, and rock and roll elements. His biggest crossover hits include " It Was Almost Like a Song", "Smoky Mountain Rain", "(There's) No Gettin' Over Me", "I Wouldn't Have Missed It for the World", " Any Day Now", and " Stranger in My House". Mike Reid (singer)
Michael Barry Reid (born May 24, 1947) is an American country music artist, composer, and former American football player. Born and raised in Altoona, Pennsylvania, United States, Reid attended college at and graduated from the Pennsylvania State University, where he played defensive lineman for the Penn State Nittany Lions football team. He then spent five seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League, earning trips to the Pro Bowl after the 1972 and 1973 seasons, before retiring after the 1974 season. He subsequently focused on his musical career, co-writing several hit singles for country music artists, including Ronnie Milsap's " Stranger in My House", which won a Grammy Award for Best Country Song in 1984. Reid later began a solo recording career, releasing two studio albums for Columbia Records. "Prisoner of the Highway" is a song written by Mike Reid, and recorded by American country music singer Ronnie Milsap. It was released in September 1984 as the second single from the album '' One More Try for Love''. The song was later included on one of his compilation albums that was released in 1992; this album was entitled ''Greatest Hits Vol. 3''. Content The song tells the story of a truck driver who is enticed, but also "imprisoned", by the highway. Yet he somehow finds freedom behind the wheel. It is rumored that a music video to the song was in post production earlier that year, but was later cancelled, although a video was filmed for the single's b-side "She Loves My Car". Robert Byrne (July 10, 1954 – June 27, 2005) was an American songwriter known primarily for his work in country music. He did most of his work at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Between the 1980s and 2000s, Byrne co-wrote singles for several artists, including the number one singles "How Do I Turn You On" by Ronnie Milsap; "I Can't Win for Losin' You", "Once in a Blue Moon (song), Once in a Blue Moon", "That Was a Close One" and "What I'd Say" for Earl Thomas Conley; "I Didn't Know My Own Strength (Lorrie Morgan song), I Didn't Know My Own Strength" by Lorrie Morgan; and "Two Dozen Roses" by Shenandoah (band), Shenandoah. He and Rick Hall also record producer, produced for Shenandoah. Gary Burr, born in Meriden, Connecticut, is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer, primarily in the country music genre. Many of the songs he has written have become Top-10 hits, the first of which was " Love's Been A Little Bit Hard On Me" released by Juice Newton (#7 on Billboard's Hot 100) in 1982.
