Greater Western Victoria Rebels
The Greater Western Victoria Rebels is an Australian rules football club which plays in the NAB League, the statewide under-18s competition in Victoria, Australia. Initially known as the Ballarat Rebels and wearing green and gold, the team was established in 1993 as one of four regional under-18s clubs, set up as part of a plan by the AFL Commission to have clubs set in all regions of the state of Victoria. The club became affiliated with the new VFL's North Ballarat Football Club in 1996, and changed its name to North Ballarat Rebels and its colours to black and white to reflect this. In January 2017, the club again changed its name to Greater Western Victoria Rebels to reflect their expanded recruitment zone. This was to help aid in player development and the process of the AFL draft, which allows U18 players the opportunity to be selected by AFL clubs. NAB League
The NAB League Boys (also referred to as simply the NAB League and formerly known as the TAC Cup) is an under-19 Australian rules football representative competition held in Australia. It is based on geographic regions throughout country Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne with each team representing twelve Victorian regions, while a thirteenth team from Tasmania was reintroduced in 2019. The competition is sponsored by National Australia Bank (NAB), having previously been sponsored by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) since its inception. The competition is one of the primary sources of recruitment for Australian Football League (AFL) clubs. Shane O'Bree
Shane O'Bree (born 15 March 1979) is a former professional Australian rules football player who played for the Brisbane Lions and Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is currently serving as an assistant coach with Geelong. Early life Originally from Beaufort in north-west Victoria, via North Ballarat Rebels under 18 side, O'Bree was drafted to the Brisbane in the 1997 National Draft as a first-round selection. Jeremy Humm
Jeremy Humm (born 5 January 1983) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with West Coast and Richmond. A tough half-back who came from the highly productive North Ballarat club, he played four games in his debut season. Marcus Picken
Marcus Picken (born 9 October 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Picken is the son of former Collingwood star Billy Picken, older brother of former Western Bulldogs player Liam Picken, and cousin of former teammate and Brisbane Lions captain Jonathan Brown. Recruited from the North Ballarat Rebels, he made his debut in 1998 after being selected by Brisbane in the 1997 AFL draft but was unable to make an impact in his limited opportunities. Brent Tuckey
Brent Tuckey (born 27 August 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood and West Coast in the Australian Football League (AFL). Brent Tuckey was drafted to the Collingwood Football Club in the 1996 National Draft as a 17-year-old, with pick 19. He was unable to break into the line up in his debut year and in 1998 he made his debut late in the season, played only three games. In 1999 he was to have yet another disappointing year in the seniors, managing only seven games, and his potential and high-flying was the only thing keeping him at the club. Ross Funcke
Ross Funcke (born 16 November 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League (AFL). Richmond career Funcke was recruited to the Richmond Tigers in the 1995 AFL Draft. Touted as a half-back player, he fulfilled that role for the Tigers, though not too impressively. At the end of the 1999 season Richmond delisted the then 21-year-old Funcke. It seemed that would be the end of his AFL career, but it was not. Tony Bourke
Tony Bourke (born 13 June 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from East Ballarat Football Club in the Ballarat Football League (BFL), Bourke was drafted by Carlton at pick 67 at the 1994 AFL Draft but ongoing injury problems kept him out of the senior side until his debut in 1998.
