Greater Shepparton Secondary College
Greater Shepparton Secondary College (GSSC) is a Public High School in Shepparton, Victoria, Australia. It opened in 2020 as an amalgamation of four previous high schools in the region. The high schools main campus is located at the site of the previous Shepparton High School, and was opened at this site in 2022. History The GSSC was created from the Shepparton Education plan. This was a result of lower educational outcomes from students in the Shepparton region when compared to similar schools across Victoria. The school officially opened in 2020 by taking over the four public high schools located in Shepparton and nearby Mooroopna. Shepparton High School (SHS) was a public high school in Shepparton, Victoria, Australia. It opened in 1909 as Shepparton Agricultural High School – the first high school in Shepparton and one of the first public high schools in Victoria. It closed in December 2019 to make way for the construction of Greater Shepparton Secondary College, which opened in 2022. History The school was first opened on 20 April 1909 as Shepparton Agricultural High School, with a roll of 31 students. Mooroopna
Mooroopna is a rural town located north of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is on the banks of the Goulburn River opposite the larger town of Shepparton. The Midland Highway crosses the river between the two towns. At the 2016 census, Mooroopna had a population of 7,942. History The name Mooroopna was used by the original Kaieltheban tribe living in the area and meant 'deep water hole'. This refers to a very deep part of the Goulburn River behind the old Mooroopna Hall. The Kaielthebans (population 50 in 1841) were part of the Yorta Yorta Nation living in the region before the arrival of Europeans. McGuire College
McGuire College is a coeducational secondary school located in Shepparton, Victoria, Australia on Wilmot Road, neighbouring with Wilmot Road Primary. The school was previously known as Shepparton South Technical School. It has approximately 501-600 students (2019). In 2020 the school will close and then merge with the City of Greater Shepparton's other government secondary schools, Shepparton High School, Wanganui Park Secondary College and Mooroopna Secondary College. Wanganui Park Secondary College was a Government secondary college with about 1,300 students from years 7 to 12 in Shepparton, Victoria. The school The school had approximately 1,300 students, 300 of which are assumed to graduate successfully. The school had an innovative curriculum, with the most notable feature being its Modular Grouping (VMG) system and also offered 2 other levels - Year 7, and the VCE. One of the school's teachers received a state award for innovative teaching in 2008. The school received a federal grant for a literacy and numeracy program.
