Greater Lowell United FC
Greater Lowell United FC is an American soccer club based in Lowell, Massachusetts. GLUFC's first-team began play in the North Atlantic Conference of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) in 2014. The club left the NPSL and joined the Champions Soccer League USA (CSL USA) for the 2017 season. The team plays its home games on an artificial-turf field at historic Cawley Memorial Stadium, located in the Belvidere section of Lowell. In 2014, the NPSL team also played in Bedford and Lawrence, but Cawley is now the permanent home to GLUFC's top team. The junior team plays BSSL matches at Greater Lowell Technical High School. Cawley Memorial Stadium
Cawley Memorial Stadium is a 6,000-seat multipurpose stadium in Lowell, Massachusetts primarily used for football, soccer, field hockey, track and field and lacrosse. The stadium was named after Edward Cawley, a landowner who owned several plots of land near the stadium on which the complex sits. The City of Lowell has always controlled this facility. The stadium is the home field for Lowell High School teams, and for the Lowell Nor'easter of the New England Football League. The stadium was used until 2014 for the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association State Finals for marching band. The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse used it from their creation in 2001 through 2003 as their home field. The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is an American men's association football, soccer league. The NPSL is a semi-professional league, comprising some teams that have paid players and some that are entirely amateur. The league is officially affiliated to the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) and has automatic qualification for the U.S. Open Cup. It is the successor of the Men's Premier Soccer League, a regional league originally based in the Western United States, which has now expanded nationwide to encompass teams from 29 states. The Champions Soccer League USA (CSL USA) was an American men's soccer league. The league was sanctioned by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA). The league announced that after the 2017 season CSL USA would use promotion and relegation policies; however, the league did not survive long enough to implement this planned structure. History The CSL USA began in 2014 with the initial season beginning in 2015. St. Pete Raiders captured the first league title with an 8-1-1 record. North American Soccer League (2011–2017)
The North American Soccer League (NASL) was a professional men's soccer league based in the United States. The league was named for, but had no connection to, the original North American Soccer League. The later NASL was founded in 2009, and began play in 2011 with eight teams. From 2013 through 2017, the NASL used a split-season schedule running from April to early November, with a four-week break in July. The spring and fall champions, along with the two teams with best combined spring/fall records met in a four-team single-elimination tournament known as ''The Championship''. New York Cosmos B
New York Cosmos B were an American soccer team based in the New York metropolitan area that played in the National Premier Soccer League, the fourth tier of the United States soccer league system, as the reserve team of New York Cosmos. History The club was announced on January 15, 2015. On February 10, 2015, Alecko Eskandarian, assistant coach for the senior squad, was named head coach of Cosmos B. In the club's inaugural season, Cosmos B did not lose a game. On August 8, Cosmos B capped the undefeated season by defeating Chattanooga FC 3-2 at Finley Stadium to win the NPSL National Championship.
