Great Yarmouth Town Football Club is a football club based in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. They are currently members of the and play at the Wellesley Recreation Ground, whose grandstand is believed to be the world's oldest football stand still in regular use, having been opened on 11 June 1892. The club is affiliated to the Norfolk County FA. Great Yarmouth (), often called Yarmouth, is a seaside town and unparished area in, and the main administrative centre of, the Borough of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, England; it straddles the River Yare and is located east of Norwich. A population of 38,693 in the 2011 Census made it Norfolk's third most populous. Its fishing industry, mainly for herring, shrank after the mid-20th century and has all but ended. Jimmy Moran (footballer)
James Moran (6 March 1935 – 1 January 2020) was a Scottish footballer who scored 52 goals from 190 appearances in the Football League playing as an inside forward for Leicester City, Norwich City, Northampton Town, Darlington and Workington in the 1950s and 1960s. He began his career with Wishaw Juniors, and went on to play English non-league football in the Eastern Counties League for Lowestoft Town. In 1967, he joined Great Yarmouth Town, becoming manager for the 1968–69 season and leading the club to its first league title. He returned to Lowestoft, and later managed Gorleston Gorleston-on-Sea (), known colloquially as Gorleston, is a town in the Borough of Great Yarmouth, in Norfolk, England, to the south of Great Yarmouth. The Football Association Challenge Trophy, commonly known as the FA Trophy, is a men's football knockout cup competition run by and named after the English Football Association and competed for primarily by semi-professional teams. The competition was instigated in 1969 to cater to those non-league clubs that paid their players and were therefore not eligible to enter the FA Amateur Cup. Eligibility rules have changed over time, but from 2008 onwards the competition has been open to clubs playing in Steps 1–4 of the National League System, equivalent to tiers 5–8 of the overall English football league system.
