Great Singapore Sale
The Great Singapore Sale (often abbreviated as GSS or Malay: Jualan Raksasa Singapura, Chinese: 新加坡热卖会, Tamil: மாபெரும் சிங்கப்பூர் விற்பனை) is a shopping event that happens annually in Singapore. Although it is called a sale, the Great Singapore Sale is in fact an event that is organised by the Singapore Retailers Association, and co-organised by stores and malls to promote the tourism industry in Singapore. In 2013, MasterCard Singapore launched the Princess Singapore Campaign where they collaborated with famous Singapore bloggers to promote the initiative. That year, over US$1.5 billion was spent by MasterCard Cardholders during the Great Singapore Sale 2013. In 2020, due to the 2020 Singaporean Circuit Breaker, circuit breaker measures as a result of COVID-19 pandemic in Singapore, the Great Singapore Sale was cancelled on 3 May and moved online as e-GSS from 24 August, making it the first online GSS in its 26-ye ...

COVID-19 Pandemic In Singapore
The COVID-19 pandemic in Singapore is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 () caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (). The first case in :Singapore was confirmed on 23 January 2020. Early cases were primarily imported until local transmission began to develop in February and March. In late March and April, COVID-19 clusters were detected at multiple migrant worker dormitories, which soon contributed to an overwhelming proportion of new cases in the country. To stem the tide of infections, strict circuit breaker lockdown measures were implemented from 7 April to 1 June 2020, after which restrictions have been gradually lifted as conditions permitted. A mass vaccination campaign was launched, and has been successful in achieving a very high vaccination rate, with more than 96% of the eligible populace having completed their vaccination regimen as of June 2022. Various measures have been taken to mass test the population for the v ...

Retailing In Singapore
Retail is the sale of goods and services to consumers, in contrast to wholesaling, which is sale to business or institutional customers. A retailer purchases goods in large quantities from manufacturers, directly or through a wholesaler, and then sells in smaller quantities to consumers for a profit. Retailers are the final link in the supply chain from producers to consumers. Retail markets and shops have a very ancient history, dating back to antiquity. Some of the earliest retailers were itinerant peddlers. Over the centuries, retail shops were transformed from little more than "rude booths" to the sophisticated shopping malls of the modern era. In the digital age, an increasing number of retailers are seeking to reach broader markets by selling through multiple channels, including both bricks and mortar and online retailing. Digital technologies are also affecting the way that consumers pay for goods and services. Retailing support services may also include the provision ...
