Great Garlic Girls
Great Garlic Girls is a Norwegian drag group that has performed a number of drag shows since 1981. It was started by Morten Rudå, Olav Klingen, and Simen Sand. Up until 1992, the group consisted of Olav Klingen, Jonny Nymoen and Terje Schrøder. Olav Klingen had to quit the group in 1992 when he was involved in an accident which put a stop to his career. Jonny Nymoen informed about his retirement from the stage due to problems with his hips in an interview with Se & Hør in April 2016. Terje Schrøder is still active in the group, with Ronny Wilhelm as the replacement after Jonny Nymoen (2015) and Thomas Anholt as actor/dancer (since 2009). Former members include Kåre Jonny (Cårejonni) Enderud, Geir Lillejord and Dean Erik Andersen. Simen Sand has since the beginning been the choreographer for the Great Garlic Girls. Romeo (Ketil Stokkan Song)
Norway played host to the Eurovision Song Contest 1986, so the country was automatically entered into the final in Bergen. Before Eurovision Melodi Grand Prix 1986 The Norwegian national final to select their entry, the ''Melodi Grand Prix 1986'', was held on 22 March 1986 at the Stavanger Forum convention center in Stavanger, hosted by actor Jarl Goli. The Band was conducted by Fred Nøddelund. Ten songs competed with the winner being decided by four regional juries (Oslo, Lillehammer, Trondheim and Vadsø), a press jury composed of newspaper, radio and television journalists, the inhabitants of the Statfjord A oil rig in the North Sea and the studio audience in Stavanger. The winning entry was "Romeo", composed and performed by Ketil Stokkan. At Eurovision Stokkan performed fourth on the night of the contest, following France and preceding the United Kingdom. Queentastic
Queentastic is a group of Norwegian drag artists, established in early 2005. Background Members Dean Erik Andersen, born in 1971 in Kristiansand, and Geir Lillejord, born in Skien in 1968, both have previous drag experience from their membership in Great Garlic Girls - another Norwegian drag act (two members of which backed Ketil Stokkan's Eurovision Song Contest 1986 entry as dancers. In fact, Dean had previously substituted for Geir (a founder of the group), which marked the beginning of their association. The duo competed as one of 18 acts in the Norwegian selections for Eurovision Song Contest, the Melodi Grand Prix 2006. The Rose d'Or ('Golden Rose') is an international awards festival in entertainment broadcasting and programming. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) first acquired the Rose d’Or in 1961, when it was created by Swiss Television in the lakeside city of Montreux.
