is a yakuza film directed by Takashi Miike. It is a remake of Kinji Fukasaku's 1975 film of the same name, which is based on the life of a real-life Yakuza member. Kinji Fukasaku
was a Japanese film director and screenwriter. Known for his "broad range and innovative filmmaking," Fukasaku worked in many different genres and styles, but was best known for his gritty yakuza films, typified by the ''Battles Without Honor and Humanity'' series (1973–1976). According to the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, "his turbulent energy and at times extreme violence express a cynical critique of social conditions and genuine sympathy for those left out of Japan's postwar prosperity." He used a '' cinema verite''-inspired shaky camera technique in many of his films from the early 1970s. Fukasaku wrote and directed over 60 films between 1961 and 2003. Yasukaze Motomiya
is a Japanese actor. His real name is . He is represented by Triple A. Biography Motomiya's elder brother is Ryuji Harada, also an actor. His wife is ''tarento'' Akiko Matsumoto. Motomiya was scouted after his older brother entered the entertainment industry and debuted in 1994 ''Spur wa Yukue Fumei'' (Nippon TV). Contrary to Harada's brother, Harada who often plays a good role, he often plays a villain, a suspicious person, or a role to be killed. Shinji Yamashita
is a Japanese actor who is represented by the talent agency From First Production. He graduated from Shimonoseki Commercial High School and dropped out from Chuo University's Faculty of Letters. Biography In 1975, Yamashita was admitted to the Bungakuza's acting school. After graduating he joined Troupe NLT. During that time, he had a part-time job in a disco in Roppongi. Yamashita's television debut was as a sneaker-wearing detective in the television series ''Taiyō ni Hoero!'' in 1979. Shingo Yamashiro
was a Japanese television and film actor. Biography Yamashiro, who was originally from Kyoto, Japan, was born , but used Shingo Yamashiro as his stage name. He made his film acting debut in 1957. Yamashiro starred in the television series '' Hakuba Dōji'' ("White Horse Rider"), beginning in 1960. During the 1970s, Yamashiro appeared in several yakuza films such as the ''Battles Without Honor and Humanity'' series and ''Gambling Den Heist'' (1975). Yamashiro also directed occasionally, helming such films in Nikkatsu's ''Roman porno'' series as '' Female Cats'' (1983) and ''Gemini Woman'' (1984). was a Japanese actor with a career spanning five decades. He is best known in the West for his role in the 1967 James Bond film '' You Only Live Twice'' as Tiger Tanaka. Biography Tamba had a part-time job as an interpreter at Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers before becoming an actor. In 1948, he graduated from Chuo University.
