Graves Family Sports Complex
The Graves Family Sports Complex is a part of the Kansas Wesleyan University campus, and is home to the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes. The complex features a grandstand, track, tennis courts, practice field, and Gene Bissell Field. It is named in honor of the Graves family; former Kansas Governor Bill Graves (a KWU alum) helped lead the fundraising effort. Kansas Wesleyan University
Kansas Wesleyan University is a private Christian university in Salina, Kansas. Founded in 1886, it is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. About 800 students attend KWU, with approximately 700 of them studying on the 28-acre campus. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Bill Graves
William Preston Graves (born January 9, 1953) is an American former politician who was the 43rd governor of Kansas from 1995 until 2003. Career Graves was born in Salina, Kansas to parents who owned a trucking firm. After graduating from Kansas Wesleyan University with a business degree, he worked in human resources. In 1986, he was elected Kansas Secretary of State and in 1991, he was appointed as a representative of state governments to the Competitiveness Policy Council. He defeated Democratic Congressman Jim Slattery in the Republican sweeping elections of 1994 at the age of 41, and became one of the youngest governors in Kansas history. A moderate Republican, Graves was known for his disputes with the conservative wing of the Kansas Republican Party. His term of office saw strong economic growth for Kansas after years of recession, and a continued emphasis on education. KSAL (AM)
KSAL (1150 kHz "NewsRadio 1150") is a commercial AM radio station that broadcasts a news-talk radio format. Licensed to Salina, Kansas, it serves the Salina-Manhattan area. The station is owned by Christopher Miller, through licensee Meridian Media, LLC. KSAL is powered at 5,000 watts. By day it uses a non-directional antenna. But to protect other stations on 1150 AM from interference, at night it switches to a directional antenna with a four-tower array. The transmitter is on North Woodward Road in New Cambria. Programming is also heard on 250 watt FM translator K294DI at 106.7 MHz in Salina. On weekdays, KSAL begins with "The KSAL Morning News." Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference
The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The KCAC is the oldest conference in the NAIA and the second oldest in the United States, tracing its history to 1890. History On February 15, 1890, the Kansas Intercollegiate Athletic Association was formed; it was the first successful attempt to organize Kansas colleges for the purposes of promoting and regulating amateur intercollegiate athletics. The McPherson Bulldogs are the athletic teams that represent McPherson College, located in McPherson, Kansas, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), primarily competing in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) since the 1902–03 academic year.
