Gravel Hill Tram Stop
Gravel Hill tram stop is a light rail stop serving Addington, in the London Borough of Croydon in the southern suburbs of London. It is the main destination for tourists visiting the historic site of Addington Palace. It is also used by students who attend John Ruskin College and is the nearest stop for Forestdale. Services Gravel Hill is served by tram services operated by Tramlink. The tram stop is served by trams every 7-8 minutes between New Addington and via and Centrale. A very small number of early morning and late evening services continue beyond Croydon to and from Therapia Lane and . During the evenings on weekends, the service is reduced to a tram every 15 minutes. Services are operated using Bombardier CR4000 and Stadler Variobahn Trams. Tramlink
London Trams, previously Tramlink and Croydon Tramlink, is a light rail tram system serving Croydon and surrounding areas in South London, England. It began operation in 2000, the first tram system in the London region since 1952. It is managed by London Trams, a public body part of Transport for London (TfL), and has been operated by FirstGroup since 2017. Tramlink is one of two light rail networks in Greater London, the other being the Docklands Light Railway. Therapia Lane Tram Stop
Therapia Lane tram stop is a stop on the Tramlink service in Croydon, close to the Purley Way commercial area. The stop is in the London Borough of Sutton close to the boundary with Croydon. It is one of two Tramlink stops within Sutton borough, the other being Beddington Lane. Just to the west of the stop is Therapia Lane Depot Staff Halt, a two platform stop used only by staff getting to or from Therapia Lane depot, and not permitted for public use. However, since 21 March 2020, the stop has been out of use due to its narrow, short platforms preventing social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. The staff halt's future is uncertain given it is less than 80m from the public stop. New Addington is a town in South London, England, within the London Borough of Croydon. It is located 5 miles south east of Croydon, south of Addington Village and north of Biggin Hill. History Until the 1930s, the area now known as New Addington was farmland and woodland in the southeast of the ancient parish of Addington. The Stadler Variobahn (formerly sold as the ABB Variotram, Adtranz Variotram and Bombardier Variotram) is a German-designed model of articulated low-floor tram and light rail vehicle. Bombardier CR4000
The Bombardier CR4000 is a 76% low floor model of the Bombardier Flexity Swift series of tram operated by Tramlink in London. They are based on and very similar in appearance to the K4000 built for use on the low-platform routes of the Cologne Stadtbahn network. Built between 1998 and 2000, the trams entered service in the spring of 2000. History 24 trams were ordered from Bombardier Transportation and built at its factory in Vienna, Austria between 1998 and 2000. The first tram, 2530, was delivered to Therapia Lane depot on 13 September 1998, with testing beginning soon afterwards.
