Grass Wonder
Grass Wonder ( ja, グラスワンダー, link=no, foaled 18 February 1995) is an American-bred, Japanese-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In a racing career which lasted from 1997 until 2000 he won nine of his fifteen races including four Grade I races. He was the leading juvenile colt in Japan in 1997 when he was unbeaten in four races, culminating in a victory in the Asahi Hai Sansai Stakes. He missed most of his second season with injury problems but returned in autumn to win the Arima Kinen. He reached his peak as a four-year-old when he won the Takarazuka Kinen and a second Arima Kinen. He failed to win in three races in 2000 and was retired to stud. He has had some success as a breeding stallion. Keio Hai Spring Cup
The Keio Hai Spring Cup (Japanese 京王杯スプリングカップ) is a Grade 2 horse race for Thoroughbreds aged four and run in May over a distance of 1,400 metres at Tokyo Racecourse. It was first run in 1956 over 1600 metres and was later run over 1800 metres before being run over its current distance for the first time in 1981. The race was elevated to Grade 2 class in 1984. ''Silver Hawk'' () is a 2004 Hong Kong-Chinese superhero film directed by Jingle Ma and starring Michelle Yeoh, Richie Jen, Luke Goss, Brandon Chang, Adrian Cooper Lastra and Michael White. Yeoh plays the title character, a masked comic book style heroine who rides a motorcycle, saves kidnapped pandas and uses her martial arts moves on the bad guys. The masked heroine theme dates back to ''Huang Ying'', a 1948 Shanghai book by Xiao Ping. Keeneland Association, Inc. is an equine business based in Lexington, Kentucky. It includes two distinct divisions: the Keeneland Race Course, a Thoroughbred racing facility, and Keeneland Sales, a horse auction complex. It is also known for its reference library. In 2009, the Horseplayers Association of North America introduced a rating system for 65 Thoroughbred racetracks in North America. Keeneland was ranked #1 of the top ten tracks. Singspiel (25 February 1992 – 1 July 2010) was an Irish-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire best known for a series of wins in major international races in 1996 and 1997. In a racing career which lasted from September 1994 until August 1997 he won nine of his twenty races and finished second on eight occasions. After showing good, but unexceptional form in his first two seasons he emerged as a world class performer in 1996 when he won the Canadian International Stakes and Japan Cup and was named U.S. Champion Male Turf Horse. In the following season he added victories in the Dubai World Cup, Coronation Cup and International Stakes before his career was ended by injury. After his retirement from racing he had considerable success as a sire of winners before his death in 2010. Rahy
Rahy (February 18, 1985 – September 22, 2011) was a Thoroughbred racehorse who competed in England and the United States. Background Bred by Hill 'n' Dale Farms in Lexington, Rahy was a son of the very important sire Blushing Groom and out of the Eclipse Award winner and Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame mare Glorious Song. Rahy was purchased as a yearling for US$2 million by Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum and brought to race in England for the 1987 season. Racing career Out of his seven starts at ages two and three, Rahy won three races. In his most significant event, he ran second to Robert Sangster's colt Gallic League in the 1987 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket Racecourse. Saint Ballado (1989-2002) was a Canadian-bred Thoroughbred race horse, best known as the sire of Horse of the Year Saint Liam and champion Ashado. Saint Ballado was the leading sire in North America of 2005. Background Saint Ballado was bred in Ontario by Windfields Farm. He was sired by Halo, himself a leading sire whose other offspring included the great Sunday Silence. Saint Ballado's dam, Ballade, was the 1992 Canadian Broodmare of the Year. A daughter of Herbager, she had previously produced champions Glorious Song and Devil's Bag. Hawkster (February 19, 1986 – June 1, 2003) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who holds the world record of 2:22 4/5 for one and one half miles on Turf set under jockey Russell Baze on October 14, 1989 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California while winning the Oak Tree Invitational Stakes. Bred in Kentucky by Robert C. Sims, Hawkster was sired by Silver Hawk and out of the mare, Strait Lane. He was raced by Mr. and Mrs. J. Shelton Meredith. Mutafaweq (foaled 21 February 1996 in Kentucky) is a Thoroughbred racehorse who raced successfully in England, Germany, and Canada. St Leger
The St Leger Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to three-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies. It is run at Doncaster over a distance of 1 mile, 6 furlongs and 115 yards (2,921 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in September. Established in 1776, the St Leger is the oldest of Britain's five Classics. It is the last of the five to be run each year, and its distance is longer than any of the other four. The St Leger is the final leg of the English Triple Crown, which begins with the 2000 Guineas and continues with the Derby. It also completes the Fillies' Triple Crown, following on from the 1000 Guineas and the Oaks.
