Grape Festival is an open-air summer music festival in Slovakia, first organized in 2010. The current venue is Trenčín Airport. The festival features alternative music, rock, pop, dance music, world music, house, techno, drum and bass, hip hop. History 2010 The first festival took place on 13 and 14 August 2010 at Piešťany Airport. Notable artist included Röyksopp, The Subways, Parov Stelar, Robots In Disguise. About 7,000 people attended the festival. 2011 In 2011, the festival took place from 12 to 13 August 2011 at Piešťany Airport. Notable artist included Interpol, Hurts, The Wombats, Marina & The Diamonds, The Qemists, The Sounds, N.O.H.A, Kormac´s Big Band. About 9,000 people attended the festival. 2012 On the 2012 festival, which took place from 10 to 11 August 2012, performed Example, Morcheeba, The Subways, Modestep, The Bloody Beetroots, Wolf Gang, Blood Red Shoes, New Ivory, The Twilight Sad, and Tata Bojs. Piešťany
Piešťany (; german: Pistyan, hu, Pöstyén, pl, Pieszczany , cs, Píšťany ) is a town in Slovakia. It is located in the western part of the country within the Trnava Region and is the seat of its own district. It is the biggest and best known spa town in Slovakia and has around 28,000 inhabitants. Etymology The name Piešťany comes from Slovak ''Piesok'' (sand), referring to local sandbanks. The etymology is straightforward – ''Piešťanci'' – people who live on the sandy site and ''Piešťany'' – their settlement. History The first human settlement in the area is dated to the prehistoric times, about 80,000 years ago. People were attracted to the site by abundance of game in the vicinity of the thermal springs that did not freeze in winter. A small female statue called Venus of Moravany was found in the nearby village Moravany nad Váhom. It is made of mammoth ivory and is dated to 22,800 BC. Morcheeba
Morcheeba is an English electronic band formed in the mid-1990s with founding members vocalist Skye Edwards and the brothers Paul and Ross Godfrey. They mix influences from trip hop, rock music, rock, folk rock and downtempo, and have produced ten regular studio albums since 1995, two of which reached the UK top ten. Edwards left the band in 2003, after which the brothers used a number of singers before she rejoined in 2009. They recruit additional members for their live performances and have toured internationally. In 2014 Paul Godfrey resigned from the band. Edwards and Ross Godfrey later formed Skye & Ross and released a self-titled album in September 2016. Their latest studio album as Morcheeba, ''Blackest Blue'', was released in May 2021 and was preceded by singles "Sounds of Blue", "Oh Oh Yeah" and "The Moon". Royal Republic
Royal Republic is a Swedish rock band from Malmö. The band is currently signed to Universal Music and managed by Odyssey Music Network. History 2007–2012: Foundation and ''We Are the Royal'' Royal Republic was founded in 2007. Their first album, ''We Are the Royal'', was recorded under the supervision of Swedish producer Anders Hallbäck in Malmö. The album was mixed at ToyTown Studios and completed with the help of Stefan Glaumann. On 6 August 2009, the record was released in Sweden and received wide acclaim from critics, fans and radio stations. All three singles reached number 1 on Bandit Rock's Most-Wanted-List. The Big Pink are an English electronic rock band from London, consisting of multi-instrumentalists Robertson "Robbie" Furze, Akiko Matsuura and Charlie Barker. Initially a duo, they signed to independent record label 4AD in 2009 and won the ''NME'' Philip Hall Radar Award for best new act. To date, they have released five singles, with their debut album '' A Brief History of Love'' released in September 2009 and its follow-up, ''Future This'' released in January 2012. The Drums
The Drums are an American indie pop band from New York City. Formation Founding members Jonathan (Jonny) Pierce and Jacob Graham became friends as children, having met at Bible camp at age 11 or 12. Some years later, they formed a short-lived electro-pop group initially named Goat Explosion, eventually renamed Elkland. They released one album, ''Golden'', in 2005 and garnered interest with the single "Apart". In 2008, Pierce and Graham came up with the concept for The Drums, and Pierce moved to Kissimmee, Florida, where Graham resided at the time, so that they could more readily collaborate. They then moved to Brooklyn, in the spring of 2009, where drummer Connor Hanwick and former Elkland guitarist Adam Kessler joined the band to complete their live sound. The Joy Formidable is a Welsh people, Welsh alternative rock band, formed in 2007 in Mold, Flintshire, and currently based in London, England. The band consists of Rhiannon "Ritzy" Bryan (lead vocals, guitar), Rhydian Dafydd (bass guitar, bass, vocals) and Matthew James Thomas (drums, percussion). The Twilight Sad
The Twilight Sad are a Scottish post-punk/indie rock band, comprising James Graham (vocals), Andy MacFarlane (guitar), Johnny Docherty (bass), Brendan Smith (keyboards) and Grant Hutchison (drums). Blood Red Shoes are an English alternative rock duo from Brighton consisting of Laura-Mary Carter and Steven Ansell. They have released six full-length albums, '' Box of Secrets'' (2008), '' Fire Like This'' (2010), '' In Time to Voices'' (2012), ''Blood Red Shoes'' (2014), ''Get Tragic'' (2019) and '' Ghosts On Tape'' (2022) as well as several EPs and a number of singles.
