Granville Ryder (1833–1901)
Granville Richard Ryder (22 September 1833 – 3 August 1901) was a British Conservative Party politician. Ryder was the second son of the Hon. Granville Ryder, second son of Dudley Ryder, 1st Earl of Harrowby. His mother was Lady Georgiana Augusta, daughter of Henry Somerset, 6th Duke of Beaufort. He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford, where he matriculated in 1851. He was elected at the 1874 general election as Member of Parliament (MP) for Salisbury, having unsuccessfully contested the seat at a by-election in 1869. He retired from the House of Commons at the 1880 general election. Fisherton Delamere
Fisherton de la Mere, also spelt Fisherton Delamere, is a small village and former civil parish on the River Wylye, Wiltshire, England. The village lies just off the A36, midway between Salisbury and Warminster, each about distant. The parish came to an end in 1934 and was divided between Wylye and Stockton, the latter gaining the hamlet of Bapton while the village of Fisherton de la Mere retained a separate identity within Wylye. History In the Domesday Book of 1086, the settlement name is spelt ''Fisertone'' William Henry Jones, ''Domesday for Wiltshire: extracted from accurate copies of the original'' (1865)p. 216at books.google.co.uk and there were 42 households and a mill. He reported that in his youth there were few books available to him, and they were mostly theological in nature. William Grenfell, 1st Baron Desborough
William Henry Grenfell, 1st Baron Desborough, (30 October 1855 – 9 January 1945) was a British athlete, sportsman, public servant and politician. He sat in the House of Commons first for the Liberal Party and then for the Conservatives between 1880 and 1905 when he was raised to the peerage. He also was President of the Thames Conservancy Board for thirty-two years. Alfred Seymour
Alfred Seymour MP, JP (11 November 1824 – 15 March 1888), of Knoyle House, East Knoyle, Wiltshire, and of Trent, Dorset, was a British Liberal Party politician. Background He was a son of Henry Seymour of Knoyle House, Wiltshire, of Trent and of Northbrook and wife Jane Hopkinson, and brother of Henry Danby Seymour of Trent. John Alfred Lush
John Alfred Lush (21 March 1815 – 4 August 1888) was an English Liberal politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1868 to 1880. Lush was the son of John Lush of Berwick St John, Wiltshire and his wife Martha Kelleway daughter of James Kelleway of Donhead, Wiltshire. He was an MD of St Andrews University and became a general medical practitioner at Salisbury. He was a member of the Royal College of Physicians of London and one of the proprietors of the Fisherton House Lunatic Asylum. Sir Robert Grant GCH (1779 – 9 July 1838) was a British lawyer and politician. He was born in Bombay, India in 1779. Grant , his older brother and father moved to England in 1790. In 1807, after studying law at Magdalene College, Cambridge, Grant passed the bar and became Commissioners in Bankruptcy. Between 1818-1832, he was elected member of Parliament for several different Burghs. On 11, August 1829, in Inverness-shire Grant married Margaret Davidson, daughter of Sir David Davidson. They had four children; two daughters and two sons. Grant died in the Dapodi, near Poona, India in 1838. The Honourable Granville Dudley Ryder JP (26 November 1799 – 24 November 1879), was a British Tory politician. Ryder was the second son of Dudley Ryder, 1st Earl of Harrowby, and his wife, the former Lady Susanna Leveson-Gower, daughter of Granville Leveson-Gower, 1st Marquess of Stafford. A graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge, he served in the Royal Navy and achieved the rank of Lieutenant. He later sat as Member of Parliament for Tiverton from 1830 to 1832 and for Hertfordshire from 1841 to 1847. He also served as a Justice of the Peace for Hertfordshire. Ryder married his first cousin, Lady Georgiana Augusta, daughter of Henry Somerset, 6th Duke of Beaufort, in 1825. They had seven daughters and six sons.
