Granite Mountains (Arizona)
The Granite Mountains of Arizona is a mountain range in the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona. It is located in extreme western Pima County, Arizona, bordering southeast Yuma County. The Granite Mountains are an 18-mile (29 km) long range, trending mostly northwest-southeast; the north end of the range turns more northerly and aligns with the Aguila Mountains of Yuma County 6 miles north. The Granite Mountain's highest point is unnamed at . The west and south end of the mountains lie at the southeastern beginning of the San Cristobal Valley flowing northwest and north to the Gila River Valley. The east side of the range borders the north-flowing Growler Valley. Granite Mountain (Arizona)
Granite Mountain ( yuf-x-yav, ʼWi:kvte:wa) is a mountain located in Yavapai County, Arizona that covers roughly 12 square miles (31 km2). It was once known as Mount Gurley, for the first governor of the Arizona Territory, John A. Gurley. Its southwest face has a sheer granite cliff approximately 500 feet (150 m) high that is one of the best locations for rock climbing in the state of Arizona. It is located in the Granite Mountain Wilderness, which is managed as a part of the Prescott National Forest. The mountain stands at the northern end of the Sierra Prietas, and borders Skull Valley on the west, on the northwest by the Santa Maria Mountains, and east by the Williamson Valley. San Cristobal Valley
The San Cristobal Valley is a valley in the lower regions of the western Gila River Valley in southwestern Arizona in the western Sonoran Desert. The San Cristobal Wash drains northwest, but exists only in the southern half of the valley. The San Cristobal Valley drains north and northwesterly and parallels the Mohawk Valley and Mohawk Mountains to the west; the valley is less desert-like than the Mohawk Valley, and ends in an extensive southwest–northeast bajada-plains region, conducive to agriculture. The Gila River valley and Interstate 8 in Arizona are at the north end of the valley between the communities of Mohawk and Dateland. Gila River Valley
The Gila River Valley is a multi-sectioned valley of the Gila River, located primarily in Arizona. The Gila River forms in western New Mexico and flows west across southeastern, south-central, and southwestern Arizona; it changes directions as it progresses across the state, and defines specific areas and valleys. The central portion of the river flows through the southern Phoenix valley region (the '' Salt River Valley'' joins the Gila River Valley in this area), and the final sections in southwestern Arizona form smaller, irrigated valleys, such as Dome Valley, Mohawk Valley, and Hyder Valley. Growler Valley
The Growler Valley is a valley of south-central Arizona west of Ajo, Arizona. Growler Valley is a 65-mile (105-km) long valley paralleling the Growler Mountains on the east-(attached to the Little Ajo Mountains), and the Granite Mountains on the west. Most of Growler Valley is located in the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge, with part located in the Barry M. Goldwater Air Force Range. The Growler Wash transits the valley northwesterly, and turns west to meet the San Cristobal Wash at the north end of the Granite Mountains.
