Granitas Kaunas is a team handball club from Kaunas, Lithuania. Currently, Granitas Kaunas competes in the Lithuanian First League of Handball. Kaunas Granitas is the most successful team in Lithuania Handball history. It is the only team from Lithuania having won EHF Cup. Team Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The EHF European League is an annual men's handball club competition organised by the European Handball Federation (EHF) since 1981. Voldemaras Novickis
Voldemaras Novickis (22 February 1956 – 31 January 2022) was a Lithuanian handball player who competed in the 1980 Summer Olympics and in the 1988 Summer Olympics. In 1980, he won the silver medal with the Soviet team. He played all six matches and scored nine goals. Eight years later, he won the gold medal with the Soviet team. He played five matches including the final. In 1987 he won EHF Cup with Granitas Kaunas. One year later in 1988, Granitas Kaunas managed to get into the EHF Cup final one more time, however they lost by a very narrow margin. From 1993 he became head coach of Granitas Kaunas and managed until 2019 with numerous titles won. Gintaras Savukynas
Gintaras Savukynas (born 18 February 1971) is a professional Lithuanian handball player, who played in center back position. Savukynas played in the World and European championships with the Lithuania National Handball team as the team captain. In 2005, he officially announced the end of his career as a player, to which he became an assistant coach for the Lithuania men's national handball team, before becoming the head of the national handball team for five years.
