Grange Railway Station (Banffshire)
Grange railway station was a railway station in the parish of Grange, historically in Banffshire (although currently in Moray). Opened in 1856 by the Great North of Scotland Railway, three years later it became a junction station after the Banff, Portsoy and Strathisla Railway built a branch to Banff and . The Great North of Scotland Railway was absorbed by the London and North Eastern Railway in 1923 and became part of British Railways when the railways were nationalised in 1948. The station was recommended for closure by Dr Beeching's report "The Reshaping of British Railways" and closed on 6 May 1968. The railway remains open as the Aberdeen to Inverness Line. Grange, Moray
Grange is a parish in the Scottish county of Banffshire that dates back to a royal charter granting the lands to the abbots and monks of Kinloss in 1196. Although there is no settlement within that area so named, it still retains its distinct community character with its own parish church and primary school. The only concentrated collection of dwellings is the small hamlet of Knock near its eastern border that is nestled beneath the hill of the same name that, though no higher than 430 metres, dominates both it and all the agrarian haughs that extend from the Grampians to the coastal plains. The total area is 6,089 Hectares (15,048 Acres). From north to south it stretches for 9.5 km (6 miles) and from east to west it spans 8 km (5 miles) making it almost square. Banff ( gd, Banbh) is a town in the Banff and Buchan area of Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is situated on Banff Bay and faces the town of Macduff across the estuary of the River Deveron. Millegin Railway Station
Millegin railway station, Millagan railway station or later Millegin Siding was briefly an intermediate stop situated on what became the Great North of Scotland Railway (GNoSR) line from Grange and Cairnie Junction to . Millegin served the rural community and the nearby saw mill in Banffshire. The line northwards ran to Tillynaught where it split to reach Banff by a branch line or Elgin by the Moray Coast line. Millegin was opened in 1859 by the Banff, Portsoy and Strathisla Railway, and closed to passengers in October 1860, remaining as a freight siding that was however lifted by 1902. Elgin, Moray
Elgin (; sco, Ailgin; gd, Eilginn, ) is a town (former cathedral city) and formerly a Royal Burgh in Moray, Scotland. It is the administrative and commercial centre for Moray. The town originated to the south of the River Lossie on the higher ground above the floodplain where the town of Birnie is. Portgordon, or sometimes Port Gordon, ( gd, Port Ghòrdain) is a village in Moray, Scotland, south-west of Buckie. It was established in 1797 by Alexander Gordon, 4th Duke of Gordon as a fishing village. It had a population of 844 at the time of the 2011 census.
