Grand Prix De Triathlon
The Grand Prix de Triathlon (''Championnat de France des Clubs Division 1 (Triathlon D1)'' or ''Grand Prix F.F.TRI. - Lyonnaise des Eaux'') defines itself as the most outstanding triathlon event in France and attracts numerous international elite triathletes hired by French clubs. The ''Grand Prix'' should not be confused with the ''Coupe de France des Clubs'', which is not a circuit but a one-day national championship and in which the clubs admitted to the Grand Prix are obliged to take part. Organisation In 2011, the circuit consisted of the following five triathlons: Nice (24 April 2011), Dunkirk (22 May 2011), Paris (9 July 2011), Tours or Tourangeaux (28 August 2011), and La Baule (''Triathlon Audencia,'' 17 September 2011). A triathlon is an endurance multisport race consisting of swimming, cycling, and running over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall completion time, racing each segment sequentially with the time transitioning between the disciplines included. The word is of Greek origin, from τρεῖς or ''treis'' (three) and ἆθλος or ''athlos'' (competition). The sport originated in the late 1970s in Southern California as sports clubs and individuals developed the sport. This history has meant that variations of the sport were created and still exist. Andrea Hansen (née Hewitt, born 4 April 1982) is a New Zealand triathlete who placed third at the 2009 ITU Triathlon World Championships and competed at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Summer Olympics. Biography Hewitt was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1982. She lived together with the French triathlete Laurent Vidal, who was also her coach and fiancé, in Sète on the Mediterranean from May to December, and for the rest of the year she returned to Christchurch until his death on 10 November 2015 from a heart attack. Dmitry Andreyevich Polyanski (russian: Дмитрий Андреевич Полянский, born 19 November 1986 in Zheleznogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai), is a Russian professional triathlete, 2009 U23 European Champion and permanent member of the National Elite Team. David Hauss (born 1 February 1984, in Paris) is a French professional triathlete and bronze medalist at the European Championships 2010. Bradley Kahlefeldt (born 27 July 1979) is an Australian triathlete born in Temora, NSW. Kahlefeldt has lived in the city of Wagga Wagga since 1982. Francisco Javier Gómez Noya (born 25 March 1983) is a Spanish triathlete. He is the winner of five ITU Triathlon World Championships, he holds three ITU Triathlon World Cup titles, and won the Silver medal for Spain at the 2012 Summer Olympics in men's triathlon.
