The Granada Theatre is a theatre located in Emporia, Kansas, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985 and was designed by the Boller Brothers. History The Granada Theatre was constructed in 1929 at a cost of $350,000 ($ in dollars). The theatre was dedicated on October 3, 1929, in a speech by “The Sage of Emporia,” William Allen White. During its early years, the theatre attracted many famous performers. In addition to screening movies, it was used for everything from beauty contests to traveling vaudeville acts. It was leased for many years to the Fox Corporation and became known as the Fox Theatre. Architect Robert O. Boller, of Boller Brothers, Architects, designed the Granada Theatre. The Granada Theater is a historic theater and concert venue located in Lawrence, Kansas. History The Granada Theater was originally built in 1928 as a vaudeville theater in Lawrence, Kansas by the Boller Brothers. It was renovated in 1934 as a movie theater. The Granada Theater is a theatre located in Lower Greenville, in Dallas, TX. The theatre was built in 1946 as a movie house. In 1977, it was converted to a concert hall, only to revert to a movie theater soon after. In 2004 it was again opened as a concert hall. Design The Art Deco design of the Granada reflects the decadence of that Golden Era. The exterior was designed for function with rounded corners, stepped forms and linear accents that echoed the industrialized, streamlined designs of modern machinery, like automobiles. The Granada Theater, located on 2nd and Washington streets in The Dalles, Oregon, United States, was built in 1929. The exterior of theater is in the Moorish Revival style. History The theater was designed by architect William A. Cutts for the Universal Film Corporation and building owner M.R. Matthew. Initial costs totaled $125,000. The building was equipped with Vitaphone and Movietone sound systems. This theater is said to have been the first theater west of the Mississippi to show a "talkie". The building's corner marquee was added in the 1950s. In 1986 the building was added to The Dalles Commercial Historic District. The city of The Dalles purchased the theater in September 2010. Granada Theater (Wilmington, California)
Granada Theater is a theater in Wilmington, Los Angeles. C.L. Post of the Post Cereal family built the Granada Theatre in 1926 as part of the West Coast Theatres chain. One year later, Fox Theatres purchased West Coast and changed the name to the Fox Granada. The architect was W.J. MacCormack. The Los Angeles City Council designated the theater as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument, historic cultural monument in 2021. Liberty Theatre (Camas, Washington)
The Liberty Theatre, formerly known as the Granada Theatre, is a movie theater in downtown Camas, Washington. It is the only movie theater in the city and is located on NE Fourth Avenue, next door to the Farrell Building. History The Granada Theatre was constructed in 1927 with funding from Camas businessman Charles Farrell, who also owned the land the theater was built on, along with the Community Investment Corporation, a group of local citizens. Design and construction cost about $75,000, including a $12,000 pipe organ, and lasted about six months. Architect P. M. The Granada Theatre was a 3,400–seat movie palace located at 6427-41 North Sheridan Road in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. It was constructed in 1926 for the Marks Brothers, who were major theatre operators in the U.S. Edward E. Eichenbaum was the principal designer for the architectural firm of Levy & Klein. Eichenbaum also designed the Marbro, Regal, and Century theatres. The Marks Brothers operated the theatre until 1934, when Balaban and Katz purchased the property.
