The Gran Premio Diamante (previously known as the Gran Premio Mil Guineas) is a Group 1 horse race in Argentina run over 1600 meters on the turf at Hipódromo de San Isidro. It is restricted to three-year-old fillies and is based on the British 1000 Guineas Stakes. It is the first leg of the San Isidro Filly Triple Crown. History The Gran Premio Diamante was first run in 1980 as a Group 2 race before being upgraded to a Group 1 race in 1982. In 2024, the race's name was changed from the Gran Premio Mil Guineas to the Gran Premio Diamante. Hipódromo De San Isidro
The Hipódromo de San Isidro is a horse racing track located in San Isidro, Buenos Aires, Argentina, owned by the Argentine Jockey Club. It is one of the largest and most important racetracks in the Americas. 120 racing days are held per year, on every Wednesday, every other Friday and Saturday, and some Sundays. The Hipódromo is located 22 km from Buenos Aires City. It has an area of 1.48 km2. Each December, the Hipódromo hosts the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini, the most important horse race in Argentina. The 1000 Guineas Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to three-year-old fillies. It is run on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket over a distance of 1 mile (1,609 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in late April or early May on the Sunday following the 2000 Guineas Stakes. It is the second of Britain's five Classic races, and the first of two restricted to fillies. Haras Santa Maria de Araras is a Thoroughbred racehorse breeding and training farm in Brazil. It is one of the most successful breeders of racehorses in Brazilian history. History Haras Santa Maria de Araras was founded in 1965 when Julio Bozano, Julio Raphael de Aragão Bozano purchased land in the town of Araras, in the state of Rio de Janeiro (state), Rio de Janeiro. The Haras bred its first Group One, Group 1 winner in 1972, Freddy Boy, winner of the 1975 Grande Prêmio Taça de Ouro. Miss Terrible was an Argentinian-bred thoroughbred racehorse best known for winning seven consecutive Group 1 races en route to being named the 2002 Argentine Mare of the Year, Champion Two-Year-Old Filly, and Champion Three-Year-Old Filly.
