The Grammy Award for Best Alternative Jazz is an award presented by the The Recording Academy, Recording Academy to honor quality alternative music, alternative jazz music performances in any given year. The award will be presented for the first time at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in 2024, and is the first new category in the jazz genre field since 1995. The academy announced the new category in June 2023, stating that the award "recognizes artistic excellence in Alternative Jazz albums by individuals, duos and groups/ensembles, with or without vocals." The Grammy Award for Best Pop Dance Recording is an award presented by the Recording Academy to honor quality dance pop music performances in any given year. The award was presented for the first time at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in 2024, as a complement to the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording and the first new category honoring dance/electronic music since 2005. The academy announced the new category in June 2023, stating that the award goes to "tracks and singles that feature up-tempo, danceable music that follows a pop arrangement." Eligible pop dance recordings were also described as featuring "strong rhythmic beats, significant electronic-based instruments", and an emphasis on the "vocal performance, melody and hooks." ''Quality Over Opinion'' is the sixth solo album and fourth studio album by American musician Louis Cole. It was released on October 14, 2022, on Brainfeeder. Background and release ''Quality Over Opinion'' was Cole's second album released through Brainfeeder, after 2018's ''Time''. The album was recorded and produced in Cole's home studio, with Cole performing most of the instruments himself. Kurt Elling (born November 2, 1967) is an American jazz singer and songwriter. Born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Rockford, Illinois, Rockford, Elling became interested in music through his father, who was Kapellmeister at a Lutheran church. He sang in choirs and played musical instruments. He encountered jazz while a student at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota.
