Grammodes Geometrica
''Grammodes geometrica'' is a moth found from the Mediterranean east to Oriental and Australasian tropics of India, Sri Lanka, Java and Australia. The adult is a fruit piercer. The species was first described by Johan Christian Fabricius in 1775. Taxonomy '' Grammodes'' moths were formerly classified in the family Noctuidae. Former noctuid moths are mostly classified in the family Erebidae now, along with all of the former members of the families Arctiidae and Lymantriidae. This reclassification has not yet met with general consensus, and many resources and publications still follow the older classification scheme (e.g.). Johan Christian Fabricius (7 January 1745 – 3 March 1808) was a Danish zoologist, specialising in "Insecta", which at that time included all arthropods: insects, arachnids, crustaceans and others. He was a student of Carl Linnaeus, and is considered one of the most important entomologists of the 18th century, having named nearly 10,000 species of animals, and established the basis for the modern insect classification. Tamarix
The genus ''Tamarix'' (tamarisk, salt cedar, taray) is composed of about 50–60 species of flowering plants in the family Tamaricaceae, native to drier areas of Eurasia and Africa. The generic name originated in Latin and may refer to the Tamaris River in Hispania Tarraconensis (Spain).
