Graham Wood (musician)
Graham Wood (15 September 1971 – 19 July 2017) was an Australian jazz pianist and educator. Career Wood taught jazz piano at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth, Western Australia, in 2001, became head of the jazz department in 2005, and Program Director of Music in 2006. In 2009, he opened The Ellington Jazz Club in Perth, Western Australia. In its first year, the venue put on 520 shows and featured 2,586 musicians. Wood was a PhD candidate at the University of Western Australia School of Music and completed his thesis in 2010 entitled "Factors affecting the performance wellness of jazz pianists in practice and performance". He presented two papers at the Performing Arts Medicine Association annual conference in Aspen, Colorado. He received a 2002 commission from the Fremantle International Jazz Festival to compose a one-hour work entitled "Joan". Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) at Edith Cowan University (ECU) was established in 1980 to provide performing arts tuition. The UWA Conservatorium of Music is a teaching and research school offering undergraduate and postgraduate study in music at the University of Western Australia. Cholangiocarcinoma
Cholangiocarcinoma, also known as bile duct cancer, is a type of cancer that forms in the bile ducts. Symptoms of cholangiocarcinoma may include abdominal pain, yellowish skin, weight loss, generalized itching, and fever. Light colored stool or dark urine may also occur. Other biliary tract cancers include gallbladder cancer and cancer of the ampulla of Vater. Risk factors for cholangiocarcinoma include primary sclerosing cholangitis (an inflammatory disease of the bile ducts), ulcerative colitis, cirrhosis, hepatitis C, hepatitis B, infection with certain liver flukes, and some congenital liver malformations. However, most people have no identifiable risk factors. The diagnosis is suspected based on a combination of blood tests, medical imaging, endoscopy, and sometimes surgical exploration. The Western Australian Music Industry Awards (commonly known as WAMis) are annual awards presented to the local contemporary music industry, put on by the Western Australian Music Industry Association Inc (WAM). The WAMi Awards are Western Australia Music's night of nights, bringing together local music fans and members of local, national and international industry to acknowledge and celebrate another year of achievements for Western Australia.
