Graham Willey
Graham John Willey (19 July 1933 – 10 February 2021) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Willey, who was a student at Scotch College, made his debut for Essendon in 1955, while on a permit from Redan. The Redan Football Netball Club (nicknamed the ''Lions'') is an Australian rules football and netball club located in the city of Ballarat, Victoria. The football team currently competes in the Ballarat Football League. Redan has a history of 59 Premierships including 11 Senior Football Premierships and was named the Victorian Country Football League Most Disciplined Club in 2004 & 2005. Redan players have also won the Henderson Medal (Ballarat Football League's best player award) on 14 occasions with two players, Michael Smith (1994, 1994) and Jarrod Edwards (2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009) winning the award in consecutive years. The Essendon Football Club, nicknamed the Bombers, is a professional Australian rules football club. The club plays in the Australian Football League (AFL), the game's premier competition. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). Best And Fairest
In Australian sport, the best and fairest award recognises the player(s) adjudged to have had the best performance in a game or over a season for a given sporting club or competition. The awards are sometimes dependent on not receiving a suspension for misconduct or breaching the rules during that season. In the Australian Football League (AFL), the Brownlow Medal is awarded to the player who, provided he has not been suspended during the season, receives the most votes from the umpires for being the Fairest and Best player in games during the home and away season. In each game, the umpires award three votes to the player they judge to be the best afield in that game, two votes to the second-best player and one vote to the third-best player. The votes are counted at a gala function on the Monday preceding the Grand Final. The Ballarat Football League (BFL) is an Australian rules football competition that operates in the Ballarat region of Victoria, Australia. Redan (a French word for "projection", "salient") is a feature of fortifications. It is a work in a V-shaped salient angle towards an expected attack. It can be made from earthworks or other material. The redan developed from the lunette, originally a half-moon-shaped outwork; with shorter flanks it became a redan. History Redans were a common feature in the coastal batteries built in Malta between 1715 and the end of the 18th century.
