Graham Smith (Canadian Swimmer)
Donald Graham Smith (born May 9, 1958) is a Canadian former competition swimmer who won a silver medal in the men's 4x100-metre medley relay at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec. He did so alongside teammates Stephen Pickell, Clay Evans and Gary MacDonald. His brother George and sister Becky also competed in swimming. At the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, Alberta, he became the first competitor to win six gold medals at a single Commonwealth Games; he won the 100- and 200-metre breaststroke, 200- and 400-metre individual medleys, and was part of the winning 4x100-metre freestyle and 4x100-metre medley relay teams. Smith twice broke the world record in the men's 200-metre individual medley (long course). He also won an NCAA national swimming championship at the University of California, Berkeley. Stephen Pickell
Stephen John Pickell (born August 11, 1957) is a Canadian retired competition swimmer. Swimming career Pickell won a silver medal in the men's 4x100-metre medley relay at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He did so alongside Graham Smith, Clay Evans and Gary MacDonald. Despite being Canadian he won the 1969 ASA National British Championships 100 metres backstroke title and the 200 metres backstroke title. Jesse Vassallo
Jesús David "Jesse" Vassallo Anadón (born August 9, 1961) is a former competition swimmer and world record-holder who participated in the 1984 Summer Olympics for the United States. In 1997, he became the first Puerto Rican to be inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. From 2004 to 2009, he served as the president of the Puerto Rican National Swimming Federation (''Federación Puertorriqueña de Natación''). Early years Vassallo Anadón is the third child of five siblings, born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, to the Vassallo Anadón family. He received his primary education at Academia Cristo Rey in Ponce. His father, Victor Vassallo, was the brother of the late Puerto Rican industrialist Salvador Vassallo, and was very sports-minded and encouraged his children to participate in sports. Oleksandr Sydorenko
236px, Sidorenko in 1980 on Moscow Olympics Oleksandr Sydorenko (27 May 1960 – 20 February 2022), also known as Aleksandr Sidorenko, was an individual medley swimmer from the USSR. He won the 400 m individual medley at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. Career Sydorenko won a gold medal at the 1981 European Aquatics Championships in Split, and at the 1982 World Aquatics Championships in Guayaquil in the 200-metre individual medley. At the 1983 Summer Universiade in Edmonton, he won a silver medal in the 200-metre individual medley. Between 1977 and 1986 he became the USSR champion 20 times. Sydorenko won the 400 m individual medley at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. He worked from 1987 to 2014 as the manager of the water polo team "Ilyichevets." Steve Lundquist
Stephen K. Lundquist (born February 20, 1961) is an American former competition swimmer who is an Olympic gold medalist and former world record-holder. At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, he won gold medals in the 100-meter breaststroke and the 400-meter medley relay. Lundquist was the first swimmer to break two minutes in the 200-yard breaststroke, and won every 100-yard breaststroke event he entered from 1980 to 1983. At age 17 he broke his first world record and in his career he set new world and American records on 15 occasions. He first broke the 100-meter breaststroke world record in 1982 and held it until 1989, with the exception of one month in 1984 when John Moffet broke it in June at the U.S. Olympic Trials (with Lundquist reclaiming it at the Olympic Games in July). David Andrew Wilkie (born 8 March 1954) is a Scottish former competitive swimmer who was Olympic and Commonwealth Games champion in the 1970s. Becky Wiber
Rebecca Gwendolyn Smith (born June 3, 1959), professionally known as Becky Smith and later known by her married name Becky Wiber, is a Canadian former medley and butterfly swimmer who won the bronze medal in the women's 400-metre individual medley at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, finishing behind East German Ulrike Tauber (gold) and her Canadian teammate Cheryl Gibson (silver). At the same Olympic Games, she also finished third in the women's 4×100-metre freestyle relay, alongside Gail Amundrud, Barbara Clark and Anne Jardin. Her brothers Graham and George also competed in swimming. She was a grade school teacher at Westbrook School in Edmonton, Alberta for Grade 6. She retired in 2019.
