Graham Creek (Manitoba)
Graham Creek, a tributary of the Souris River, is a river that flows from Saskatchewan near Maryfield into Manitoba where it meets the Souris River on the west side of Melita, Manitoba. The Souris River, in turn, drains into the Assiniboine River, which is part of the Red River drainage basin in a region called the Prairie Pothole Region of North America. That region extends throughout three Canadian provinces and five U.S. states. It is also within Palliser's Triangle and the Great Plains ecoregion. River's Course Graham Creek starts about 11 kilometres south of Maryfield, near Highway 600. From there, the river heads towards the Manitoba border in a south-southeast direction where it crosses the border from Saskatchewan into Manitoba under the exact spot where Saskatchewan Highway 13 becomes Manitoba Highway 2. The Municipality of Two Borders is a rural municipality (RM) in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is located in the extreme south-west corner of the province in the Westman Region. The rural municipality's name is a reference to its location abutting Manitoba's western border with the province of Saskatchewan and Manitoba's southern international border with the American state of North Dakota. The Town of Melita is located within the municipality, but is a separate urban municipality. History The municipality was created on January 1, 2015 via the amalgamation of the RMs of Albert, Arthur and Edward. Manitoba Provincial Road 256
Provincial Road 256 (PR 256) is a provincial road in the southwest corner of the Canadian province of Manitoba. At a length of , it is among the longer provincial roads in Manitoba. PR 256 begins as a gravel road at PTH 41 near McAuley and winds its way south, staying within 10 miles of the Saskatchewan border. After it crosses the Trans-Canada Highway at Elkhorn, PR 256 becomes a paved, two-lane highway and continues south to the Lyleton Port of Entry at the Antler–Lyleton Border Crossing on the Canada–United States border, located south of Pierson, in the extreme southwest corner of Manitoba. After crossing the international border, PR 256 becomes North Dakota Highway 256. In 2014, the Canada Border Services Agency moved into a new state-of-the-art facility at Lyleton, which is the most westerly Port of Entry into Manitoba, located only three miles from the Saskatchewan boundary. Tilston, Manitoba
Tilston is a small community in the Municipality of Two Borders, Manitoba, Canada. The community is located at the junction of Road 256 and Road 345, approximately 144 km south-west of Brandon, Manitoba only 58 kilometers south-west of the Town of Hartney.http://www.nrcan.gc.ca/earth-sciences/search/calculate_distance_3_e.php?unique_id_str_1=GBBVK&unique_id_str_2=GAKKP On July 27, 2015, the longest-documented tornado in Canadian history touched down near Tilston, staying on the ground for 2.5 to 3 hours. It was rated EF2. Infrastructure Tilston was served by the Canadian Pacific Railway until a spring storm in 1976 washed out the rail bridge near Lauder Manitoba. The bridge was not repaired and the line was salvaged beginning in 1978. Two grain elevators remain standing and some of the ties on the former siding are still in place.
