Graham William Allen (born 11 January 1953) is a British Labour Party politician, who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nottingham North from 1987 to 2017. He stood down at the 2017 general election. Graham Allen (born 8 April 1977 in Bolton), is a former professional footballer who last played as a central defender for Bradford Park Avenue. Graham started his career at Everton making his debut against Middlesbrough on 26 December 1996. He played 6 times for Everton before signing for Tranmere Rovers in 1998 after a successful loan spell. He played 200 league games for Tranmere Rovers scoring 10 goals before signing for Rushden & Diamonds in 2004 playing 31 league games and scoring 2 goals before signing for Chester City in 2006. Injuries forced him to retire from professional football after only one year at the Deva Stadium, having made just three league appearances for the Blues. Graham Allen (born 23 December 1963) is a writer and academic from Cork city, Ireland. He is the author of two collections of poetry, ''The Madhouse System'' (2016) and ''The One That Got Away'' (2014). He is a former recipient of the Listowel Single Poem Prize, awarded each year at Listowel Writers' Week. As a literary critic, he has published numerous books, including ''Harold Bloom: Towards a Poetics of Conflict'' (1994), ''Intertextuality'' (2000), and ''Roland Barthes'' (2003). Scholarship Allen is Professor of Literature at University College Cork. His book for Routledge's New Critical Idiom series, ''Intertextuality'' (2000), had a second edition in 2011 and eight re-prints since first publication. In 2008, he published a book on ''Frankenstein'' and a monograph on Mary Shelley. Graham Robert Allan (1936–2007) was an English mathematician, specializing in Banach algebras. He was Reader in functional analysis and Vice-Master of Churchill College at Cambridge University... Life Allan was born on 13 August 1936 in Southgate, Middlesex, England. After serving in the Royal Air Force from 1955 to 1957, he entered Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, and continued at Cambridge for his graduate studies, receiving a PhD in 1964 under the supervision of Frank Smithies. Allan spent most of his career at Cambridge, with interludes as a Lecturer in Pure Mathematics at Newcastle University from 1967 to 1969 and as Professor of Pure Mathematics at the University of Leeds from 1970 to 1978. Back at Cambridge, he was promoted to Reader in 1980 and was Vice-Master of Churchill College from 1990 to 1993. Allan supervised the theses of over 20 Cambridge PhD students. He retired in 2003, but continued teaching after his retirement. He died on 9 August 2007 in Cambridge. ...
