Graffiti Rock
''Graffiti Rock'' was a hip-hop based television program, originally aired on June 28, 1984. Intended as an ongoing series, the show only received one pilot episode and aired on WPIX channel 11 in New York City and 88 markets around the country, to good Nielsen ratings. ''Graffiti Rock'' resembled a hip hop version of the popular television dance shows at the time such as ''Soul Train'' and ''American Bandstand''. The show was created and hosted by Michael Holman, who was the manager of the popular break-dancing crew, the New York City Breakers. The episode features Run-D.M.C., Shannon, The New York City Breakers DJ Jimmie Jazz, Kool Moe Dee and Special K of the Treacherous Three. Michael Holman (filmmaker)
Michael Thomas Holman is a New York-based artist, writer, filmmaker and musician. He is also an early 1980s downtown scene subculturalist and creator of the Hip Hop music program ''Graffiti Rock.'' Holman is a founding member, along with Jean-Michel Basquiat, of the experimental band Gray. In 2016, Holman's archives were acquired by the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. Additional Holman artifacts were acquired by the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Holman has performed his ''Confessions Of A Subculturalist'' spoken word performance at the Bruno Walter Auditorium in Lincoln Center, and his sound and video ''The Subjective Gaze, Parts 1&2'' performance at New York City's Museum of Modern Art. Henry Chalfant
Henry Chalfant (born January 2, 1940) is an American photographer and videographer most notable for his work on graffiti, breakdance, and hip hop culture. One of Chalfant's prints is held in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Education and career Chalfant is a graduate of Stanford University, where he majored in classical Greek. Starting out as a sculptor in New York City in the 1970s, Chalfant turned to photography and film to do an in-depth study of hip-hop culture and graffiti art. ''The Odd Couple'' is the second studio album by Gnarls Barkley, released digitally on March 18 and in stores March 25, 2008. Due to an early leak of the album over the Internet in early March 2008, the duo decided to push up the release from April 8. The album was released to the iTunes Store and Amazon MP3 on March 18. As of October 2010 the album has sold 250,000 copies in United States according to Nielsen SoundScan. Due to the band's inactivity, ''The Odd Couple'' would become the group's last album to date as of over a decade later.
