Graeme Craig Smith (born 1 February 1981) is a South African cricket commentator and former cricketer who played for South Africa in all formats. In 2003, he was appointed captain of the national team, taking over from Shaun Pollock. He held the position of test captain until his retirement in 2014. At 22, he was appointed as South Africa's youngest ever captain. He was the most capped captain ever when he played his (personally not captained) 102nd test against England. He is considered as one of the greatest ever test captains of all-time having led South Africa to a record 54 test victories and under his captaincy South Africa was often highlighted as the best travelling team in the world. A tall, left-handed opening batsman, Smith is regarded as one of the greatest openers of all time. Graeme Smith (born 3 October 1982) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a goalkeeper and is now a goalkeeper coach for Rangers B Team. Career Kilmarnock Bellshill-born Smith joined Kilmarnock from their boys club in 2000. He was loaned to Queens Park in the 2001–02 season, making 24 appearances in total and then to Stenhousemuir the following season, where he started 34 matches. Smith finally made his Kilmarnock début on 7 March 2004, as a substitute during a 1–1 draw with Hearts. Smith was an unused substitute in the 2007 Scottish League Cup Final, when Kilmarnock lost 5–1 to Hibernian. After spending most of his time with Killie as a reserve keeper, firstly to Gordon Marshall and then to Alan Combe, Smith refused the clubs offer of a new contract at the end of the 2006–07 season and subsequently left, having made 47 appearances in total for the Rugby Park side. Graeme Meldrum Smith (born 8 June 1983) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a goalkeeper who has professionally retired. He started his career at Rangers and has also played for Ross County, Motherwell, Brighton, Hibernian, Gabala, Partick Thistle, Ayr United, Brechin City, Stenhousemuir and Berwick Rangers. Graeme Smith (born June 3, 1979) is a Canadian author and researcher. He worked as a political affairs officer for the United Nations in Afghanistan from 2015 to 2018. He was previously a senior analyst for the International Crisis Group. He has served as a foreign correspondent for ''The Globe and Mail'', a Canadian newspaper. Career Smith was hired by ''The Globe and Mail'' as a staff reporter in 2001. The newspaper appointed him as bureau chief in Winnipeg (2003), Moscow (2005), Kandahar (2006), Delhi (2010), and Istanbul (2011). Smith investigated detainees captured by Canadian troops and transferred into Afghan custody in 2007, revealing widespread torture in local jails. He also hosts Outcast UK, an LGBTQ+ issues podcast. Graeme is used by the supermarket chain Asda as one of the presenters on their radio service running across UK stores.
