The Goya Award for Best (Spanish: ''Premio Goya a la mejor '') is one of the Goya Awards, Spain's principal national film awards. The category was first presented at the ninth edition of the Goya Awards with ''El sueño de Adán'' directed by Mercedes Gaspar being the first winner of the category. The short film '' The Lady and the Reaper'' (2009) was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 82nd Academy Awards. At the European Film Awards, the short films ''The Trumouse Show'' (2004) and ''Minotauromaquia, Pablo en el Laberinto'' (2005) have received nominations for Best Short Film. The Goya Awards ( es, Premios Goya) are Spain's main national annual film awards, commonly referred to as the Academy Awards of Spain. The awards were established in 1987, a year after the founding of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences, and the first awards ceremony took place on March 16, 1987 at the Teatro Lope de Vega, Madrid. The ceremony continues to take place annually at Centro de Congresos Príncipe Felipe, around the end of January/beginning of February, and awards are given to films produced during the previous year. The award itself is a small bronze bust of Francisco Goya created by the sculptor José Luis Fernández, although the original sculpture for the first edition of the Goyas was by Miguel Ortiz Berrocal. ''Tadeo Jones'' is a 2004 Spanish short animated film directed by Enrique Gato. It tells the story of Tadeo Jones, an adventurer who enters a pyramid where he finds a family of mummies. The project of this film was born when Gato wanted to make a short film containing more action and humour than his previous projects, so he decided to make a parody of the adventure genre, whose representative figure is Indiana Jones.
