Goya Award For Best Adapted Screenplay
The Goya Award for Best Adapted Screenplay (Spanish ''Premio Goya al mejor guión adaptado'') is one of the Goya Awards, Spain's principal national film awards. For the first two editions of the Goya Awards, only one award for screenplays was presented which included both original and adapted screenplays, with both winners being adaptations, ''Voyage to Nowhere'' in 1986 (based on the novel of the same name by Fernando Fernán Gómez) and ''El Bosque animado'' (based on the eponymous novel by Wenceslao Fernández Flórez) in 1987. Since the third edition, two awards are presented separately, Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay. Rafael Azcona has received this award four times, more than any other nominee, winning for ''¡Ay Carmela!'' The awards were established in 1987, a year after the founding of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences, and the first awards ceremony took place on March 16, 1987 at the Teatro Lope de Vega, Madrid. Luis García-Berlanga Martí (12 June 1921 – 13 November 2010) was a Spain , Spanish film director and screenwriter. Acclaimed as a pioneer of modern Spanish cinema, his films are marked by social satire and acerbic critiques of Spanish culture under the Francoist Spain, Francoist dictatorship. Life and career When he was young, Berlanga decided to study law and then philosophy, but in 1947 he decided to enter the Institute of Cinematographic Investigations and Experiences (Instituto de Investigaciones y Experiencias Cinematográficas) in Madrid. In his youth he enrolled in the Blue Division in the Eastern Front (World War II), Eastern Front of World War II to avoid his father's execution as a Republican politician. José Luis Borau
José Luis Borau Moradell (8 August 1929 – 23 November 2012) was a Spanish producer, screenwriter, writer, and film director. He won the Goya Award for Best Director in 2000 for '' Leo''. Borau was born in Zaragoza. In addition to directing, he acted in some films, including ''Everyone Off to Jail'' in 1993. He was president of the Spanish Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (1994–1998), and member of the jury at the 41st Berlin International Film Festival in 1991. In February 2008 he was elected to the B seat of the Real Academia Española. Borau died on 23 December 2012 aged 83 in Madrid from a throat cancer. Career Born in Zaragoza. ''The Blind Sunflowers'' ( es, Los girasoles ciegos) is a 2008 Spanish film directed by José Luis Cuerda and written by Rafael Azcona and Cuerda, based on the 2004 novel '' The Blind Sunflowers'' by Alberto Méndez.
