Gowa Regency
Gowa (''Makassar language : '') is a regency in the province of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It has an area of 1,883.33 km2 and a population of 652,329 at the 2010 census, increasing to 765,836 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 773,315. The majority of the regency (the western eleven districts, with 617,277 inhabitants, or 79.8% of the regency's population in 2021) lies within the official metropolitan area of the city of Makassar, including the regency's administrative capital at Sungguminasa. The hill resort of Malino is within the eastern (non-metropolitan) part of the regency. Fort Somba Opu
Fort Somba Opu (Makassarese Baruga Somba Opu, Indonesian Benteng Somba Opu) was a fortified commercial center of the Gowa Sultanate. Its ruins are located in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The fort was the center of the Gowa Sultanate in the 16th-century until its destruction by the Dutch East India Company in 1669. The conquest of Somba Opu citadel was one of the most difficult campaigns the Company had ever undertaken in the East. History Somba Opu grew on one of the two oldest area in Makassar, the Kale Gowa (Tamalate) and the Tallo'. The Kale Gowa was located on elevated ground on the north bank of the Jeneberang River, around six kilometers from its mouth. Both areas feature walls which encompass a very large area; the perimeter totals about two kilometers. Within the walls were sacred coronation stone on which new rulers (''karaeng'') took their oaths of office, a sacred spring, and the tombs of the rulers. Maros Regency
Maros Regency ( mak, ᨆᨑᨘᨔᨘ, Màrusu’, ) is a regency of South Sulawesi province of Indonesia. It covers an area of 1,619.12 sq.km, and had a population of 319,002 at the 2010 Census and 391,774 at the Census of 2020. The official estimate for mid 2021 was 396,924. Almost all of the regency lies within the official metropolitan area of the city of Makassar. The capital town of the regency is Maros. Bili-Bili Dam
The Bili-Bili Dam is located in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, on the Jeneberang River, about 30 km from the city of Makassar. It serves several purposes to include flood control, irrigation and hydroelectric power generation. The dam was constructed between 1991 and 1998. Background In 1981, Bili-Bili Dam was added to the Jeneberang River Comprehensive Development Project. Construction began in 1991 and the dam was completed in 1998. The weirs downstream of the dam and their accompanying irrigation canals were completed in December 2005. The dam's power station was commissioned in 2005 as well. Jeneponto Regency
Jeneponto Regency ( mak, ᨍᨙᨊᨙᨄᨚᨈᨚ, Je’ne’ponto, ) is a regency of South Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. It covers the south coast of the southern peninsula of Sulawesi, with a total area of 749.79 km2 and a population of 342,222 at the 2010 Census and 401,610 at the 2020 Census. The official estimate for mid 2021 was 405,508. The principal town lies at Bontosunggu. Takalar Regency
Takalar Regency ( mak, ᨈᨀᨒᨑ, Takalara’, ) is a regency of South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. It covers an area of 566.51 km2 and had a population of 269,603 at the 2010 census and 300,853 at the 2020 census; the official estimate for mid 2021 was 302,695.
