The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) ( sw, Banki Kuu ya Kenya) is the monetary authority of Kenya. Its head office is located in Nairobi. CBK was founded by in 1966 after the dissolution of East African Currency Board (EACB). Dr. Patrick Ngugi Njoroge is current Governor of CBK and Sheila M’Mbijjewe is the Deputy Governor. Patrick Ngugi Njoroge
Patrick Ngugi Njoroge is a Kenyan economist, banker and the ninth governor of the Central Bank of Kenya. Background and education Njoroge was born in Kakuma, Kenya, . His father was an official in the education department and his mother was a teacher. Njoroge credits his parents involvement in education with inspiring his passion for learning. Njoroge attended Mangu High School from 1973 until 1976, for his O-Level education. From 1977 until 1978, he attended Strathmore College for his A-Level studies. He entered the University of Nairobi in 1979, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1983 and a Master of Arts in Economics in 1985. From 1987 until 1993, he studied at Yale University, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in economics. Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta (born 26 October 1961) is a Kenyan politician who served as the fourth president of Kenya from 2013 to 2022. Kenyatta was chosen by Daniel Arap Moi as his preferred successor, but Kenyatta was defeated by opposition leader Mwai Kibaki in the 2002 election and Kibaki replaced Moi as president. Duncan Nderitu Ndegwa (born 11 March 1925) was the first post-independence Head of Civil Service and Secretary to the Cabinet in Kenya. He was also the first African and longest serving Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya. Early life Ndegwa was born on 11 March 1925 in Nyeri County. Fredrick Ndegwa was a Kenyan economist, entrepreneur, former Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya, and patriarch of one of the country's wealthiest families. Education Born in Kirinyaga County, Ndegwa was educated at Alliance High School, Makerere University College and Harvard University.
