Governor Of Pskov Oblast
The governor of Pskov Oblast (russian: Губернатор Псковской области) is the highest official of Pskov Oblast, a federal subject of Russia. The governor heads the executive branch in the region. History of office On 15 November 1991, by the decree of president Boris Yeltsin, the director of Pskovnefteprodukt enterprise Anatoly Dobryakov was appointed Head of Administration of Pskov Oblast. In May 1992, Dobryakov was removed from office after being accused of involvement in illegal selling of fuel and non-ferrous metals to the Baltic states. Deputy mayor of Pskov for economic reforms Vladislav Tumanov was appointed instead. In October 1996 he lost the election to Yevgeny Mikhailov, who became the first Liberal Democrat elected governor in Russia. The 2000 election was the only one to use the first-past-the-post system. Mikhail Yuryevich Vedernikov (russian: Михаил Юрьевич Ведерников; born 7 March 1975) is a Russian politician and the governor of Pskov Oblast since 2017. Biography Mikhail Vedernikov was born in 1975 in Vyborg, Leningrad Oblast. In 1998 he graduated from the Northwestern Academy of Public Administration. In 2000 he joined Unity party and became secretary of its provincial youth organization. In 2001–2005, he was a member of Vyborgsky District council, and then member of Vyborg city council to 2009. At the time he was co-owning wholesale business and travel agency in Vyborg. Since 2007 Vedernikov held the positions of deputy, and then first deputy head of the regional executive committee of United Russia party in Leningrad Oblast. In 2010s he worked in the regional policy department of the Presidential Administration of Russia. The Pskov Oblast Assembly of Deputies (russian: Псковское областное Собрание депутатов) is the regional parliament of Pskov Oblast, a federal subject of Russia. The Assembly of Deputies consists of 26 seats. It had previously consisted of 44 seats, prior to the 2021 elections. Deputies are elected by the citizens of Pskov Oblast. Since 2002, the Assembly of Deputies has been elected using parallel voting. Andrey Anatolyevich Turchak (russian: Андрей Анатольевич Турчак; born 20 December 1975) is a Russian politician who has served Secretary of the General Council of United Russia from 12 October 2017 and the Senator from Pskov Oblast from 2 November 2017. Previously, he was the fifth Governor of Pskov Oblast (2009–2017) and Senator from the Pskov Oblast (2007–2009). By being appointed as Governor at the age of 33, he became one of Russia's youngest governors. In 2013, Alexei Navalny released documents showing that Turchak had neglected to declare a $1.7 million villa that he had purchased in France, an illegal omission under Russian law. Gubernatorial elections in 2004 and 2005 were held in 25 federal subjects of Russia. In several regions these elections were moved from end of 2004 to March 14 to combine with the 2004 Russian presidential election.
