Government College Of Science
The Government College of Science Wahdat Road (GCS) in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan is located along the Wahdat Road in the locality of Allama Iqbal Town (hence its name). The college was founded on 8 August 1973; M. A. Saeed was its first principal. The Institution The college, by its present name, came into being on 8 August 1973,in compliance with the orders of the then Governor of the Punjab, after merging Government Superior Science College, Lahore and Government Degree College, Wahdat Road, Lahore. At the same time the building which was constructed to house Govt. Intermediate college for Girls, Gulberg, Lahore and which remained unutilized, was also annexed to the college building and was named Government College of Science, Wahdat Road, Lahore. The Higher Education Commission (colloquially known as HEC) is a statutory body formed by the Government of Pakistan which was established in 2002 under the Chairmanship of Atta-ur-Rahman. Allama Iqbal Town
Allama Iqbal Town ( ur, ) (also known as Iqbal Town or abbreviated as AIT) is a commercial and a residential locality in the south-western Lahore. It is named after Allama Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan. Development was started in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was previously famed for its name in Urdu, 'Sola Sau Acre سولہ سو ایکڑ' (meaning 1600 acres), due to its area.
