Government Arts College, Coimbatore
Government Arts College is an autonomous institution located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It is a liberal arts college affiliated to the Bharathiar University. History Government Arts College started as an Anglo-vernacular school in 1852. It became a first-grade college in 1870 and almost a century later, a post-graduate college in 1964, under the Madras University. The college blazon was adopted as early as 1868 by then Principal C. C. Flanagan. After that it changed, in 1953 as a part of the centenary year celebration and in 1999 after the college was accredited, with four stars. Coimbatore, also spelt as Koyamputhur (), sometimes shortened as Kovai (), is one of the major metropolitan cities in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located on the banks of the Noyyal River and surrounded by the Western Ghats. Manivannan
S. Manivannan Rajagopal (31 July 1953 – 15 June 2013), better known by his mononym Manivannan, was an Indian film director, actor and activist who worked mainly in Tamil cinema and also worked in a few Telugu & Malayalam films. In a career spanning three decades, he went from being a story and dialogue writer for director Bharathiraja from 1980–82 to a successful director who thrived in experimenting with different genres, before becoming an actor. With over 400 films to his name, Manivannan was one of the most experienced actors in the field and directed exactly 50 films. Manivannan was mainly a supporting actor in films and often played the comedian, supporting character and villainous roles. V. Jeevananthan (born 15 March 1956) popularly known as Oviyar Jeeva (lit. Artist Jeeva) is an Indian painter, film critic, art designer and writer from Tamil Nadu. Biography Jeevananthan is the eldest son of N. Velayutham Pillai, a noted banner artist for Tamil films during the 1950s, '60s and '70s in the Coimbatore area and the proprietor of Cine Arts (est. 1954). Jeevananthan started his education in English medium and Hindi as his second language. He did his schooling from Kikani Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore. Ranjith is an Indian actor who appears in Tamil and Malayalam language films. Acting career After completing a course in acting, Ranjith made his acting debut in 1993 with ''Pon Vilangu'', directed by K. S. Rajkumar, was produced by R. K. Raghuvaran Velayutham (11 December 1958 – 19 March 2008) was an Indian actor who predominantly acted in films made in South India.
