Gotland Game Conference
Gotland Game Conference (GGC), previously known as the Gotland Game Awards, is an international conference, game exhibition and -competition for students. The event is held annually and marks the end of the academic year for the students at the Department of Game Design at Campus Gotland, Uppsala University. Here they can showcase everything that they have learned during the year to a jury consisting of professionals from the game development industry, the gaming press and academia. History The Department of Game Design on Gotland, Visby, has hosted a public event for displaying student projects since at least 2002. The event found a stable structure and was branded "Gotland Game Awards" in 2006 and re-branded "Gotland Game Conference" in 2011, when a presentation track was added and the event opened to public participation. Campus Gotland
Uppsala University – Campus Gotland ( sv, Uppsala universitet – Campus Gotland) is a campus of Uppsala University and a former university college (''högskola'') previously known in English as University of Gotland ( sv, Högskolan på Gotland). It is located in Visby on the Baltic island of Gotland, Sweden. The school became a part of Uppsala University on 1 July 2013, and has been known as 'Uppsala University – Campus Gotland' since then. The university college was originally established in 1998 and had around 4,300 registered students in 2007, many of them part-time and distance students. The main building which used to be an old Whiskey distillery is located in the central part of Visby, between the city marina and the Almedalen park. The Rindi Student Union, which organises the students, has its own building, called Rindi-borgen. ''Defunct'' is an indie adventure video game developed by the Swedish indie video game development studio Freshly Squeezed from Visby. Defunct received several nominations at the 2014 Swedish Game Awards including Game of the Year, which it went on to win. The game was also nominated for Best Student Project at the 2014 Unity Awards. In March 2015, it was announced that Freshly Squeezed had signed a publishing deal with the Dutch video game publisher SOEDESCO. The release date was originally expected to be in Q3, 2015, for PC. However, the release date was pushed back and released on Steam on January 29, 2016. In December 2017, the game was released for PS4 and Xbox One. In January 2018 it was added to the Windows Store.
