''Gotcha Covered'' is the eighth studio album by Australian rock back The Screaming Jets. The album features The Screaming Jets covering 15 iconic Australian songs spanning the mid 1960s to late 1990s. The album was supported by a national tour. Upon release, singer and lead singer Dave Gleeson said “What we came up with was a great Aussie party album. Covering songs that have shaped us; songs from our youth; songs that have been written and performed by contemporaries and songs that will make even the most loyal fan go “what the”.” The band showcased the entire album on the 3rd and 4th of August 2018 at The Bridge Hotel, Sydney. The Screaming Jets are an Australian hard rock band formed in Newcastle, Australia, in 1989 by frontman Dave Gleeson (vocals), Paul Woseen (bass guitar), Grant Walmsley (guitar)Richard Lara(guitar), and Brad Heaney (drums). The band has three albums that peaked in the top five on the Australian ARIA Charts: '' All for One'' (1991), '' Tear of Thought'' (1992), and ''The Screaming Jets'' (1995). "Darling It Hurts" is a song by Australian rock group Paul Kelly and the Coloured Girls released in September 1986 as the second single from their first double album, ''Gossip''. The song, written by Kelly with lead guitarist Steve Connolly, reached No. 25 on the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart in October. It was issued in 1987 on A&M Records in the United States, where it reached No. 19 on the ''Billboard'' Mainstream Rock Chart. Due to possible racist connotations the band changed its name, for international releases, to Paul Kelly and the Messengers. Radio Birdman is an Australian punk rock band formed by Deniz Tek and Rob Younger in Sydney in 1974. The group influenced the work of many successful, mainstream bands, and are now considered instrumental in Australia's musical growth. History Origins Deniz Tek and Rob Younger formed Radio Birdman in mid-1974 in Sydney, having recently left their bands TV Jones and the Rats respectively. The pair sought to begin a band that would challenge the commercial mainstream and be completely uncompromising. Timothy Adrian Rogers (born 20 September 1969), known professionally as Tim Rogers, is an Australian musician, actor and writer, best known as the frontman of Australian rock band You Am I. He has also recorded solo albums with backing bands. As of July 2013, Rogers has released 12 albums with You Am I and five solo albums. Early life Born in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, Rogers moved between towns multiple times during his adolescence, including Adelaide and Canberra. Following his primary school years in Applecross, a suburb of Perth, Rogers later became school captain at Sydney school Oakhill College. Rogers studied law at the Australian National University in Canberra, aged 18, though did not complete a degree. Russell Keith "Rusty" Hopkinson is an Australian rock musician and record label owner. He joined alternative rockers, You Am I, in 1993 on drums, percussion and backing vocals. He had previously been a member of the Bamboos (1986–87) and Kryptonics (1987–88). He established a record label, Reverberation, in 2003 with his former Kryptonics bandmate, Ian Underwood. Biography Early in 1981 in Perth, Hopkinson was the lead vocalist and guitarist for Circle A, which included Don Burr on lead guitar and the Tarrant brothers: Dan on bass guitar and John on drums. "Purple Sneakers" is the third single from the album ''Hi Fi Way'' by Australian rock band You Am I. It was released in 1995 and was listed at number 24 on Triple J Hottest 100, 1995. The song opens with the lyric "Had a scratch only you could itch, underneath the Glebe Point bridge", which refers to the Anzac Bridge, Sydney. Icehouse are an Australian Rock music, rock band, formed in Sydney in 1977 as Flowers. Initially known in their homeland for their Pub rock (Australia), pub rock style, the band later achieved mainstream success playing New wave music, new-wave and synth-pop music and attained Top 10 singles chart success locally and in both Europe and the U.S. The mainstay of both Flowers and Icehouse has been Iva Davies (singer-songwriter, record producer, guitar, bass, keyboards, oboe) supplying additional musicians as required. Ivor Arthur Davies, AM (born 22 May 1955), known professionally as Iva Davies, is an Australian singer, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. Davies' music career spans more than 40 years. He came to prominence in the early 1980s as co-founder and lead singer of rock band Icehouse, becoming one of Australia's top rock stars of that decade. He is the only member who has been with Icehouse throughout its entire history. "Walls" is the third single released by the Australian rock band Flowers, later known as Icehouse. It was released in January 1981, on independent label Regular Records from their debut album, '' Icehouse'', it peaked at #20 on the Australian Kent Music Reoport Singles Charts. Hoodoo Gurus are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1981, by the mainstay Dave Faulkner (songwriter, lead singer and guitarist) and later joined by Richard Grossman (bass), Mark Kingsmill (drums), and Brad Shepherd (guitar, vocals, harmonica).
