Gostivar ( mk, Гостивар ; sq, Komuna e Gostivarit) is a municipality in the western part of North Macedonia. * ''Gostivar'' is also the name of the town where the municipal seat is found. ** Gostivar Municipality is part of the Polog Statistical Region. 2019 Albania Earthquake
Northwestern Albania was struck by a magnitude 6.4 earthquake with an epicentre 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) west-southwest of Mamurras, at 03:54 CET (UTC+1) on 26 November 2019. The earthquake lasted at least 50 seconds and was felt in Albania's capital Tirana, and in places as far away as Bari, Taranto and Belgrade, 370 kilometres (230 mi) northeast of the epicentre. The maximum felt intensity was VIII (''Severe'') on the Modified Mercalli intensity scale. A total of 51 people were killed in the earthquake, with about 3,000 injured. It was the second earthquake to strike the region in the space of three months. Štirovica
Štirovica ( mk, Стрезимир; sq, Shtirovicë) is a historical village located within the boundaries of the present-day village of Brodec in the municipality of Gostivar, North Macedonia. It is part of the region of Upper Reka. History Štirovica (''Shterovica'') appears in the Ottoman '' defter'' of 1467 as a village in the ziamet of Reka which was under the authority of Karagöz Bey. The village had a total of 11 households and the anthroponymy recorded depicts a predominantely Albanian character. According to ''Ethnography of the Adrianople, Monastir and Salonika vilayets'', Štirovica in 1873 had 100 households with 235 Albanian Muslims. Vrapčište Municipality
Vrapčište ( mk, , tr, Vrapçişte, sq, Vrapçisht) is a village and seat of the municipality of Vrapčište, North Macedonia. History A policy of Turkification of the Albanian population was employed by the Yugoslav authorities in cooperation with the Turkish government, stretching the period of 1948-1959. Makedonski Brod ( mk, Македонски Брод ) is a municipality in western North Macedonia, named after the town of Makedonski Brod, where the municipal seat is located. Makedonski Brod Municipality is part of the Southwestern Statistical Region.
