Gornji Grad–Medveščak
Gornji Grad–Medveščak (, ) is one of the districts of Zagreb, Croatia; ''Gornji Grad'' translates as "Upper Town", referring to its historical location on city's hillside, being above ''Donji Grad'' ("Lower Town"). The district is located in the central part of the city and, according to the 2011 census, it has 30,962 inhabitants spread over . Gornji Grad–Medveščak is a district with a high number of historic sites and tourist attractions. Gradec and Kaptol, the two distinct cores of medieval Zagreb, are forming today's Upper Town, and both are parts of this district. The city's Cathedral, the St. Mark's Church and the Croatian Parliament are located in Gornji Grad, as is the popular pedestrian café street Tkalčićeva. Šalata
Šalata () is an upper-class residential neighborhood in Zagreb, Croatia. It is administratively part of the Gornji Grad - Medveščak city district in the northern part of Zagreb and it has a population of 1,929. Šalata houses the Šalata Sport and Recreation Center (''ŠRC Šalata'') and the University Hospital Centre Zagreb (''KBC Zagreb''). The neighborhood is located east of Medveščak Road, the main thoroughfare of its parent city district, on the gentle slopes of the Medvednica. Due to its hilly nature, Šalata is approximately above downtown Zagreb. Nova Ves
The Nova Ves (meaning ''new village'' in Kajkavian language) is a historic street north of the Kaptol neighborhood in Zagreb, Croatia. It is administratively within the bounds of the Gornji Grad - Medveščak city district. According to the 2001 census, the street and its surrounding area had 3,456 inhabitants. In 2009, it had a population of 3,575. From the first habitation to date, the street has had a rich history as an important part of Zagreb ever since the beginnings of the modern city. The first mention of the street (as "Lepa Ves") can be found in a document dating to 1334, which calls the settlement a "villa." Medveščak (neighborhood)
Medveščak is a neighborhood of the Gornji Grad - Medveščak district in Zagreb, Croatia. According to the 2011 census, 2,648 people make up its population. The neighborhood is best known for its theatre, Mala Scena Theatre ( hr, Kazalište Mala Scena), and Zagreb University's School of Medicine. There is also a small park, Glogovac, situated in the centre. 2017 Zagreb Local Elections
The 2017 Zagreb local elections were held on 21 May and 4 June 2017 for the Mayor of Zagreb and members of the Zagreb Assembly. Milan Bandić, the 52nd and incumbent mayor since 2005 (previously also the 50th mayor from 2000 to 2002), ran for a sixth 4-year term. As no candidate won an absolute majority of the vote in the first round, a second round of elections took place on 4 June 2017 between the two highest-placed candidates in terms of popular vote: incumbent mayor Milan Bandić of the Bandić Milan 365 - Labour and Solidarity Party and former Ministry of Construction and Spatial Planning (Croatia), Minister of Construction Anka Mrak Taritaš of the Croatian People's Party - Liberal Democrats.
