Gorillaz
Gorillaz are an English virtual band formed in 1998 by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, from London. The band primarily consists of four fictional members: 2-D (vocals, keyboards), Murdoc Niccals (bass guitar), Noodle (guitar, keyboards, vocals), and Russel Hobbs ( drums). Their universe is presented in music videos, interviews, comic strips and short cartoons. Sweetie Irie
Dean Bent (born January 1971), better known as Sweetie Irie, is an English reggae singer and deejay. Early life Sweetie Irie began working on local sound systems as a teenager. Career He gained the attention of Angus Gaye of Aswad, who recruited him to MC on the dancehall mix of their 1989 single " On and On". He was then signed by Island Records and in 1991 released his debut album ''DJ of the Future'' which went gold. Sweetie achieved a No. 53 chart placing with Aswad on the song "Smile" and a No. 47 placing with Scritti Politti on "Take Me in Your Arms and Love Me". Jamie Christopher Hewlett (born 3 April 1968) is an English comic book creator, illustrator, music video director, and songwriter. He is the co-creator of the comic book ''Tank Girl'' with Alan Martin and co-creator of the virtual band Gorillaz, alongside Blur frontman Damon Albarn. Biography Early life Brought up in Horsham, West Sussex, Jamie Hewlett was a pupil at Tanbridge House School, a local co-educational source comprehensive for pupils aged 11–16 years. Daniel M. Nakamura better known by his stage name Dan the Automator, is an American record producer from San Francisco, California. He is the founder of the publishing company Sharkman Music and the record label 75 Ark. Early life Nakamura was born in San Francisco, California on 20 December 1968. Stuart Harold "2-D" Pot is a fictional English singer, musician and member of the British virtual band Gorillaz. He provides the lead vocals and plays the keyboard for the band. 2-D's singing voice is provided by Blur frontman Damon Albarn on Gorillaz' recordings and performances; his speaking voice was provided by actor Nelson De Freitas in various Gorillaz direct-to-video projects such as '' Phase One: Celebrity Take Down'' and '' Phase Two: Slowboat to Hades''. Murdoc Niccals
Murdoc Faust Niccals (born Murdoc Alphonce Niccals) is the fictional British bassist for the virtual band Gorillaz. He is voiced by Phil Cornwell and was created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. In the Gorillaz universe, Murdoc was responsible for most of the conception and formation of the band, and he is angry that 2-D is the frontman. He was based on The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. Phil Cornwell
Philip Cornwell (born 5 October 1957) is an English actor, comedian, impressionist and writer. He is part of the '' Dead Ringers'' television and radio series, and was the voice of Murdoc Niccals in the virtual band Gorillaz.
