Gore Hill is an urban locality on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Gore Hill is located within the southern part of the suburb of Artarmon, and the north-west of the suburb of St Leonards. History It takes its name from William Gore, the provost marshal in colonial Sydney, who had a property of in the area. It is best known for being where the Gore Hill Freeway from Lane Cove to the Sydney Harbour Bridge starts and ends and as the location of the ABC's Sydney television transmission tower, which is 170 m (558 ft) high. For more than 40 years Gore Hill was probably best known as the location of the ABC's Sydney television studios which were established in 1956 and which operated until June 2003, when the site was closed and sold, and the ABC moved its television operations to its combined TV-radio studio facility in the inner-city suburb of Ultimo. North Shore Railway Line
The North Shore Line is a railway line serving the North Shore in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The North Shore Line extends from Sydney Central station through the western limb of the City Circle, across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and through the North Shore area to Hornsby where it joins the Main North Line. North Shore Australia Football Club, known informally as the North Shore Bombers is an Australian rules football club competing in the Sydney AFL Premier League and based out of the Sydney suburb of St Leonards, New South Wales. Formed in 1903 it remains one of only three foundation clubs still in existence and generally recognised as one of the more successful clubs of Sydney AFL. The club's current home ground is Mortgage Choice Oval (also known as Gore Hill Oval) in St. Leonards, next to the Royal North Shore Hospital. ATN is the Sydney flagship television station of the Seven Network in Australia. The licence, issued to a company named Amalgamated Television Services, a subsidiary of John Fairfax & Sons, was one of the first four licences (two in Sydney, two in Melbourne) to be issued for commercial television stations in Australia.
