Gordon O. Tanner
Gordon Owen Tanner (born October 28, 1948) is an American lawyer who served as the General Counsel of the Air Force, the chief legal officer of the U.S. Department of the Air Force, from 2014 to 2017. Tanner also served as the Governor of Wake Island during the same period. Biography He was born in Mobile, Alabama on October 28, 1948. He was educated at the University of Alabama, receiving a B.A. in political science in 1970. He then attended Vanderbilt University School of Law where he obtained his J.D. degree in 1973. He then served on active duty military service with the United States Air Force as a Judge Advocate assigned to Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida from 1973 until 1977. The Air and Space Longevity Service Award (ASLSA) is a military award of the United States Air Force and United States Space Force established as the Air Force Longevity Service Award by Air Force General Order 60, on 25 November 1957 by General Thomas D. White, Air Force Chief of Staff. The award was primarily created as an air force equivalent to the service stripes used by other branches of the United States military to denote years of military service. The award is retroactive to the establishment of the U.S. Air Force as an independent service in September 1947. Armed Forces Reserve Medal
The Armed Forces Reserve Medal (AFRM) is a service medal of the United States Armed Forces that has existed since 1950. The medal recognizes service performed by members of the reserve components and is awarded to both officers and enlisted personnel. The medal is considered a successor award to the Naval Reserve Medal and the Marine Corps Reserve Ribbon, which were discontinued in 1958 and 1967, respectively. If the medal is awarded for periods of service, it is accompanied by an hourglass device. Depending on the length of service, a bronze, silver, gold, or bronze and gold hourglass are worn on the suspension ribbon and service ribbon, indicating 10, 20, 30, or 40 years of service, respectively.
