Gordon Millington
Gordon Millington (4 May 1848 – 27 April 1923) was a New Zealand cricketer. He played two first-class matches for Otago between 1876 and 1881. A fast bowler, Millington took 3 for 57 and 6 for 37 when Otago lost to Canterbury in 1876-77. A few weeks later he was Otago's most successful bowler against the touring English team, taking 6 for 54 off 45.3 four-ball overs in an innings defeat. In 1878 he was one of the best New Zealand bowlers in the matches against the touring Australians, taking 5 for 44 to help give Otago a first-innings lead in the drawn match. "The Australians failed against Millington, who again proved himself Otago's mainstay," wrote the New Zealand cricket historian Tom Reese. Rugby is a market town in eastern Warwickshire, England, close to the River Avon. In the 2021 census its population was 78,125, making it the second-largest town in Warwickshire. The Auckland cricket team represent the Auckland region and are one of six New Zealand domestic first class cricket teams. Governed by the Auckland Cricket Association they are the most successful side having won 28 Plunket Shield titles, ten wins in The Ford Trophy and the Super Smash four times. North Otago in New Zealand covers the area of Otago between Shag Point and the Waitaki River, and extends inland to the west as far as the village of Omarama (which has experienced rapid growth as a developing centre for astronomy and for gliding). Tom Reese
Thomas Wilson Reese (29 September 1867 – 13 April 1949) was a New Zealand first-class cricketer who played for Canterbury from 1888 to 1918, and later wrote a two-volume history of New Zealand cricket. Life and career Reese was one of the first pupils at Christchurch Boys' High School. He was the older brother of Dan Reese, who captained the New Zealand cricket team from 1907 to 1914. Jack Reese, a younger brother, also played cricket. His younger brother Alexander went as a missionary to Brazil. His youngest brother, Andrew Reese, was an architect; he was killed in action in 1917. Their father, Daniel Reese, was a builder and a member of parliament. Tom played irregularly over two decades for Canterbury, batting low in the order. He reached fifty only once, when he made 53 against Hawke's Bay in 1903–04. The Australian cricket team toured New Zealand in January and February 1878, before their 1878 tour of England. It was the first overseas tour by a representative Australian team.
