Gordon Irwin Miller (February 26, 1924 – February 23, 2021) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Liberal from 1975 to 1990. Background Miller was educated in Jarvis and worked as a farmer. Miller's son Doug was a candidate of the Ontario Liberal Party in 1999 in the riding of Haldimand—Norfolk—Brant. Politics He was a school trustee from 1960 to 1967, a councillor from 1968 to 1971, a reeve from 1971 to 1973 and a regional councillor from 1973 to 1975. He was elected to the Ontario legislature in the 1975 provincial election, defeating Progressive Conservative Jim Allan by 1,955 votes in the rural riding of Haldimand—Norfolk. He was re-elected by a greater margin in the 1977 election, and again in 1981, 1985 and 1987. Gord Miller (born June 21, 1965) is a Canadian sportscaster for Bell Media's sports cable network TSN. He is the lead play-by-play announcer for ''TSN Hockey'' and coverage of international hockey, including the IIHF World Junior Championship. He also covers the annual NHL Entry Draft, provided play-by-play for Canadian Football League games, and does play-by-play for the Stanley Cup playoffs on ESPN in the United States. Miller was awarded the Paul Loicq Award by the International Ice Hockey Federation in 2013, for his contributions to international ice hockey. Early life Miller was born June 21, 1965, in Edmonton, Alberta. As a student at McKernan Junior High School, Miller fought in City Hall against a proposed curfew for children under 16. Gord Miller (born March 27, 1953) is a Canadian politician who was the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, having served from February 1, 2000 to May 18, 2015. He was appointed to a five-year term in 2000 and was reappointed to this position in 2005 and 2010 for two consecutive five-year terms. Early life Before his appointment, he worked for the Ontario Ministry of the Environment for 14 years as a scientist, manager of training and development, and as a district manager. He also helped to set up the advocacy organization Ontario Public Interest Group Guelph. Miller received an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1976 and a Master of Science degree in Plant ecology in 1978, both from the University of Guelph.
