Gordon Hunter (born 3 May 1967) is a Scottish former footballer, who played as a defender for Hibernian, Canberra Cosmos, Dundee, Cowdenbeath, Hamilton Academical and Stirling Albion. Hunter was part of the Hibernian team that won the 1991 Scottish League Cup Final (also playing on the losing side in the final of the same competition in 1985 and 1993); he was granted a testimonial match by the club in 1996 having made 409 appearances over 14 seasons. Hunter, who scored very few goals in his career, got the winner for Hibs in an Edinburgh derby match in 1994 that ended a record 22-game unbeaten run by Heart of Midlothian in the derby. Gordon Rowland Robert Hunter (1949 – 9 March 2002) was a New Zealand rugby union player, coach and selector. Early life and education Hunter was raised in rural Southland, and educated at Southland Boys' High School from 1963 to 1967. Rugby career Hunter was a member of the Southland Boys' High School rugby 1st XV in 1967. He played wing and the school magazine noted that "on his day his tackles were bone- and morale-shattering." After leaving school, Hunter moved to Dunedin and joined the Zingari-Richmond club where he came under the influence of renowned coach Eric Watson. He made a couple of appearances for Otago before a workplace accident left him without his left eye. He subsequently made a career as a coach and selector, coaching Otago from 1992 to 1995, the Otago Highlanders in the 1996 Super 12 competition, and retired from coaching the Auckland Blues in 2001. Gordon Hunter (born January 20, 1946) was an Ottawa City Councillor. He represented Knoxdale-Merivale Ward. On January 31, 2010, he announced that he would not be running re-election to city council in 2010. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Hunter was born into a military family and moved frequently during his childhood. He attended Lakefield College School, Dalhousie University, and University of Toronto, graduating in 1968. He moved to Nepean in 1968 to become a teacher at Confederation High School, and taught physical education there for thirty-one years until the school closed in 1999. He was also a national champion at orienteering. He ran for the federal Liberal Party in the 1980 federal election, but lost to Progressive Conservative Walter Baker by more than 12,000 votes. Gordon William Hunter (born June 4, 1928) is a retired American shortstop, coach and manager in Major League Baseball. Playing career Born in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Hunter was listed as tall and . He threw and batted right-handed. After attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Penn State, Hunter was signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1948. He was sold to the St. Louis Browns of the American League (AL) on October 14, 1952, for $150,000 after leading the Texas League in fielding and stolen bases. Hunter was the starting shortstop for the last Browns club in 1953 and the first modern Baltimore Orioles team when the Brownies moved to Maryland in 1954. For the remainder of his career, however, he was a second-string infielder for the New York Yankees, Kansas City Athletics and Cleveland Indians. Hunter batted .219 with 16 home runs and 144 RBI in 630 games over his six-year (1953–58) AL career.
